Politics đꤎ Donald Trump

National powers. Monarchies. Rich families. WW1 kicked off officially because the heir to the austro-hungarian throne got killed. There was plotting and a lot of money involved, but regardless that had zero to do with democracy.

You know your stuff Frank, although probably a bit more complicated than that. Here’s how ol mate ai sees it, take it up with them if you don’t agree

World War I was intertwined with ideas about democracy. While the war's origins were complex, involving alliances, nationalism, and imperial rivalries, some politicians and leaders framed the conflict as a struggle for democracy against authoritarian regimes. For example, President Woodrow Wilson's rationale for entering the war was to "make the world safe for democracy".

Here's a more detailed look:

  • Contrasting Ideologies:
The war pitted democratic powers like Britain, France, and eventually the United States against autocratic nations like Germany and Austria-Hungary.
  • Wilson's "Democracy" Rationale:
President Wilson's stated goal was to establish a world order based on democratic principles, which was a key justification for American involvement.
  • Impact on Post-War Europe:
The war's outcome led to the collapse of empires and the establishment of new democratic republics in Europe, albeit often with limited success.
  • German Perspective:
Some in Germany believed that their nation, despite its autocratic government, was better suited for a long war and would ultimately triumph over the democracies.
In essence, while the war wasn't solely about democracy, it became a significant arena for the clash of different political ideologies, with some leaders using the conflict to promote democracy as a global ideal

a world war that features limited participants across limited space and time? :ROFLMAO:
1 - I agree it’s limited at the moment but will more countries get pulled in?

2 - NZ and Australia are upping their defence spend heavily. Is this a concern foreshadowing bigger conflict?

3 - Will China get sucked in either locally (South China Sea or Taiwan) or helping or annexing Russia?

4 - I see this as US fighting proxy wars. Is this the case? Looking big picture could they beat up Russia and Iran without taking any flack themselves?

5 - is the Trump pro Russia/ Putin a convenient front while the US weakens them via Ukraine?

How do you see it all playing out Frank?

Just a few heels running amok

Alex Padilla  where's that name and accent from? Ohh and it was a press conference with Homeland Security about ICE raids? What an amazing coincidence and 100% not a publicity stunt
He’s a politician from the opposition party. Asking questions is part of their job. It’s called scrutiny and is what happens in a democracy

How can you not see that it’s not staged like Frank alleges? Nothing to do with democracy here, never has been either, just some mistaken identity of a Hispanic rushing the stage. Franks just counting down to savage September, he’s been in fantasyland February and currently in justification June

"staged" isnt the definition of a publicity stunt. See TPM in the NZ parliament.

Is an elected official not allowed to ask questions? Only journalist?
Of course they can, they do every day at their jobs in the legislature. What they cant do is gate crash federal press conferences demanding information. In fact even a journalist would be removed acting like that.

Im just amazed that a fascist, authoritarian, far right, white supremacist, nazi regime, left the senator go unharmed shortly after. Must have been an oversight.

You’re not great with your understanding of words Frank. To stage something is to give people a certain impression or deceive, seems exactly what you’re alleging
are you on the spectrum?

I said publicity stunt, I meant publicity stunt.

A publicity stunt is a planned event, action, or activity designed to attract public attention and generate media coverage

You make it sound like a journalist has more right to ask questions by saying even a journalist would be removed. This guy is elected and has every right to ask questions for those he represents
