And it’s not even that crazy a theory. Countries are always sponsoring protests in competing countries. Chinas MO is always economic dominance and Tesla is a direct competitor to BYD etc.

China is also still big mad about the Huawei debacle. Sponsoring an online anti Elon / Tesla campaign that originated on Reddit of all places isn’t outside the realms of possibility.
