You should have him up about it one day instead of on here eh.
i haven’t spoken to him in 20+ years.

but you should ask him about his DJ buddy with the dreadlocks named ruben at voodoo lounges girlfriend named lucy he raped at dragon bar though.

let me know how he explains that one away.

also ask why he has pretty much zero friends anymore from the late 90s early 2000s

rapist apologists are fucking vile dude.
you’re better than that.

surely there’s ANYONE better to quote than that sack of shit.

Tell me why we’re in the doldrums so long?

Bad situation with low wages, rising costs and businesses not making money.

The problem obviously is compliance, regulations and red tape so looking forward to that being sorted out to make us competitive again.
We are in a recession because the government has made massive cuts to spending and cut funding to housing etc that has had a huge impact on the industry. I could argue that was needed but probably could have been done in a more sustainable way and when you only have three years you gotta go fast.

NONE of the graphics on the musicalchairs bsky site show what the GDP figures are for Q2 of this year because it won't be released by Stat NZ until September.

NZIER are picking GDP to be over 2% (while the Treasury forecast is over 3%) next year meaning we will have one of the highest amounts in the world... please explain how that is "low or negative" according to the definition you posted.

BTW, Hickey also predicted stagflation three years ago.... guess what? It didn't happen then either.

The last 9 months have been growth and recovery. I’ve been saying since early this year on here that anecdotally there is more positivity out there.

This is led by our primary exports which are booming.

Our mate prefers doom and gloom and living in the past holding onto the recession as it fits his political narrative. He wants us to be bad simply because he doesn’t want national to have us back on track. Pretty negative outlook.

As everyone knows unemployment figures have a lag when things pick up so the rate will drop later this year. Bit of a reconfiguring of the economy, towards more productive industries which will be good for the long term.

Looks like we’re placed nicely to be booming come next election. 3 MORE YEARS!

Tbf Wiz the protestors were causing havoc with locals going about their daily activities and businesses
Also remember the harassment of school kids on the way to school
Two sides to everything
I was there with my wife for a few days (didn't stay overnight) as she was anti vax and an old school activist. (we also had to go to the Posey Parker event in Albert Park but that's another story)

There were certainly some undesirables around especially towards the end but in general most of the punters were there to protest the vax mandates. A lot of people I spoke with had lost their employment over it and were very bitter after being originally told the vax would be optional by the Queen of Spin.
For sure, some people in Wellington were inconvenienced but isn't that the nature of a protest? Never saw any harassment of school kids but would say there were plenty of them lurking about the protest rather than being at school

Sadly the whole thing was spoiled by a bunch of anarchists who probably had the jab anyway and were only there looking for a stoush.
What was also sad was that no one from the political arm could bring themselves to discuss the concerns of these people, instead categorising them as rivers of filth and tinfoil conspiracy specialists. Big Mikey Woods is lucky her who is obeyed never caught up with him, same for the idiot child Mallard

Green shoots starting to appear? Very anecdotal I know but I've started to see a bit more enquiry for projects. Whether this is too late or there will be enough evidence of a "recovery" to prevent the current government from being a "One-Term Pony" remains to be seen.
Highly unlikely they’ll be only 1 term, comfortably ahead in nearly every poll, if economy hasn’t turned yet then it certainly will have in 12 months time, and most importantly of all Labour require the support of the two anarchist parties.

Bloody 'ell Genghis, what do the grandkids say when you tell them that, I bet that triggers young Greta.
Funny thing is when they bask in the magnificence of the remuneration it provided, Greta and her type are described as a bunch of grifting losers.

(See what I did with that grifter word again ;))

One of the GKs asked the other day what happened to Greta and I heard her mother say that she was enjoying Tel Aviv and hoping to convert. Apparently the IDF will be completely smoke free (powder) by 2030.

Many protests are allowed to occupy longer term. Look at Ihumātao protest and the complete difference to the Wellington protest.

Jacinda knew her govt was losing control and handled the whole situation poorly. Instead of de-escalating the situation she wound them up, ostracised them and ignored valid concerns. The police never should have confronted them on day 3.

History is looking back at those protest as the beginning of the end for Ardern and Labour. It came off the back of the excessive lockdowns and the vaccine failing and Jacinda seemed to have a breakdown over that protest. Irrational handling. She couldn’t handle that people were seriously unhappy and took it personally.

Sad but necessary time in NZ history.

as far as hospitality and higher end retail goes in wellington. real green shoots. some hospo places nearing 2019 numbers.

a LOT of positivity and movement here amongst those that have bankrupted old companies to get rid of those last covid loans they had to take once the grants stopped to stay afloat.

things are definitely starting to look up.
a lot of phoenixing which i don’t agree with but hey whatever, covid.

if this government and the last government blame everything on covid, why can’t they?

Thing is that pretty much everyone who votes for National or Labour give very little thought as to who they would be going into coalition with.... such is their blindness to either Blue Chris or Red Chris.

Think of it this way... National are currently being propped up by a party wanting to have an unelected official go through Acts of Parliament to see if bills need to be altered to suit their regulation stance while Labour will need the support of a party who wants all bills to be examined by a Commissioner to make sure it meets their parties idea of what the Treaty says...
