Just reflecting on your comments re IRD, and not wanting to rebut them
The IRD did their “super wealthy” exercise at David Parker’s bidding, which in my view actually made it political and undermined its credibility.
Which is a shame as there is merit at relooking at the tax system and his exercise was too narrow in its remit, painting a target on an “enemy” to try to garner public support to punish the wealthy
The IRD, with the help of tax system experts, should actually zoom out and think of the tax system overall and see what ideal looks like. Instead of just wanting to hammer the super wealthy/successful, which is how Parker’s report read. Parker is tainted by his politics, and what is actually needed is an apolitical project sponsor
Similar to the greens’ referendum on marijuana. Give us an apolitical project sponsor and maybe the electorate will listen. Unfortunately, it was rushed through and tainted by the party that proposed it. How about a recommendation to include all intoxicating substances, instead of just proposing marijuana? I’m sure there would be winners and losers in that analysis

People wanting some answers and justifiably so
There were a LOT of right wingers on here bringing up golriz and running her down - someone who fronted and has paid the price justice wise, and a huge toll socially.
You'd think given the magnitude of this crime, and the ongoing bullying abusive patterns exposed in Act previously, that there would be more interest and discussion.
What does that even mean any more when we're seeing who the right really are? Come on mate. This is a moral and ethical global problem Fascism is on the rise, it's all on the right, and we're seeing our democracies actively dismantled. By the right. This is who they are.

Trump is never a working class saviour to save you from the system, drain the swamp, the elites (whatever the fuck that means).

National would never be so brazen, Act are letting the facade slip at times, but they sing from the same playbook
And they actively lie at election time to cover this up.
But they are similar and follow the same plans. Break down democracy. Remove the rules restricting wealth extraction. Gain and retain power indefinitely.

There is a big difference between an MP and a party president. The party president is answerable to the party, and the MP to the electorate
Act should have just publicly cast him aside and sped up the process. No loss there in my view
The best thing to do with egregious behaviour is to quickly cut the offender loose (like Swarbrick wanted to do with Tana, Hipkins v Allen etc). But it has to be bad, as in this case
