What case? I'm just making observations, I have not taken any side.So the university doesn’t know what it was talking about and doesn’t understand statistics
Post some facts then to support your case. I’m open to it…
The American election was expected to be close judging by polling, didn’t happen. Many feel that particular polls are friendly to particular parties. As your mate John Nick says, never spoken to anyone who’s been been involved in one? Can’t blame media for reporting the truth, shit government, shit policySo, every survey and poll would be considered the same then? I don't think it's inappropriate to post this survey as a rebuttal to an unsubstantiated post claiming the media is predominantly right biased. Considering the majority of articles this year have seemed to be anti the government and their policies, I'm not seeing any justification for the original post.
If we can’t trust independent university research then there is no truth is there? The American election was expected to be close judging by polling, didn’t happen. Yeah I remember in 2020, trump was on his way back into the white house after the early votes counted. Then lost. Full proof those polls and early countsSame way they can project elections with a fraction of the vote counted.
They sent 1200 invitations but adjusted data based on the per capita number. Not that complicated
Not sure it’s the university people are sceptical ofIf we can’t trust independent university research then there is no truth is there?
Trump would agree!
Let’s all head back down our rabbit holes and be happy our views right because everyone around us agrees
That's really not the argument at all though. The American election was expected to be close judging by polling, didn’t happen. Many feel that particular polls are friendly to particular parties. As your mate John Nick says, never spoken to anyone who’s been been involved in one? Can’t blame media for reporting the truth, shit government, shit policy
You tried to give it relevancy by saying every survey or poll would be the same and I gave you an example of a poll being hugely wrong, which I think what we’re discussing is. You mightn’t see evidence media is predominantly right, but I don’t see evidence media is predominantly left as what’s being madeThat's really not the argument at all though.
I see no evidence to suggest that the media is predominantly right leaning. In fact the only real evidence appears to be quite contrary to that statement.
I haven't said any of that regarding every poll or survey being the same. You tried to give it relevancy by saying every survey or poll would be the same and I gave you an example of a poll being hugely wrong, which I think what we’re discussing is. This is a telling post that you dont understand stats. Which is more reliable 359/1200 or 1000/5000000?The point was it wasn't 1000 people, it was 359...
Surely that is what you would expect of a good journalist in a democracy as their task is to hold the incumbent government to account which means “being” left when the right are in power and vice versa.Considering the majority of articles this year have seemed to be anti the government and their policies, I'm not seeing any justification for the original post.
Jaysis, just listen to zb most times of the day. That's really not the argument at all though.
I see no evidence to suggest that the media is predominantly right leaning. In fact the only real evidence appears to be quite contrary to that statement.
And the irony is you are dismissing surveys when you have been posting quoting one yourself very recently.
Come on mate, even you are better than that, surely.Jaysis, just listen to zb most times of the day.
Where did I judge the reliability? I was just disagreeing with him saying it was 1000 people that were surveyed. This is a telling post that you dont understand stats. Which is more reliable 359/1200 or 1000/5000000?
Of a good journalist yes.Surely that is what you would expect of a good journalist in a democracy as their task is to hold the incumbent government to account which means “being” left when the right are in power and vice versa.
Leftish comments will sound biased to a right winger and rightist comments biased to a lefty
What was the point you were trying to make when you said “so, every survey or poll would be considered the same then”?I haven't said any of that regarding every poll or survey being the same.
I don't know if the media are more right or left leaning (my perception is they are more left leaning) but based on the only evidence provided I can't see any support for the statement they are heavily right leaning.
I mean it's fine if you think the government is shit and has shit policies but blindly supporting an unsubstantiated comment in the face of contrary evidence supplied based on an argument that the survey could be wrong seems a bit of a stretch to me.
My point was that you have disregarded the evidence provided here based on the survey not capturing everyone. Yet you have posted previously quoting and referencing a survey that doesn't capture everyone to make your point. So either surveys are or aren't relevant. What was the point you were trying to make when you said “so, every survey or poll would be considered the same then”?
With what’s considered the left, you don’t often see them as big gun enthusiasts. Perhaps it was just a poor attempt of humour with the props at hand? Perhaps not everyone that dislikes trump is left leaning? Very surprised anyone would think to offer that joke after apparent assassination attempts. Poor form indeedAnecdotally, the general media appears very left leaning. I remember TV1 (I think) firing a toy gun at a Trump toy. Seemed quite unprofessional
