I’m not a winston fan, but he is a politician like no other. Such an amazing speaker
That's the beauty of Winston. He fucking 79 and he's up there without a teleprompter, just eviscerating his opposition with pure wit. Hipkins, Chloe, TPM all got a serve. That's what they took from us, politicians that you could respect regardless of the side of the aisles.

What I liked about Swarbrick’s tirade was it was backed up by stats, whereas here I didn’t hear much more than a threat for 2025? Hopefully he’s got something to offer. I used to enjoy stuff like this too in this footage of him a few years ago, but it wore off. I’ve got no respect for his type of politician. He’s a lawyer by trade and it comes across in the way he conducts himself

Not NZ politics, but not a fan of how this guy is buying his way into politics around the world. Was talk of being in trumps government after donating plenty. Now talking of supplying Nigel Farrage with $100 million for his campaign and now this on Germany

Fair enough, but unfortunately politics have put themselves in this position globally by allowing it.

As if the left hasn’t taken donors money, soros, Hoffman, Bloomberg, to name a few.

There’s always ulterior motives, and geopolitical narratives being pushed through by donations, on both sides.

I think it’s only fair by discussing musk, you must address both sides role to play.

Absolutely. Politics in general is the problem and it’s divisive format I’ve said before and continue to believe

I’ve come to a couple of realisations:

The only way forward for NZ is a Labour government run by strong intellectuals. Clarke and Cullen is THE example.

National can never run the country at a surplus as they will be ripped apart for underfunding x,y,z and being nasty. See Keys last year. Finally achieved a surplus and voted out for underfunding health. Even now with a huge deficit they are being mean for not funding everything and anything. I don’t see how National can ever get us out of the crap without becoming too unpopular to the simplistic public.

Labour don’t have intellectuals. They are currently tied in knots with too many lobby groups (unions, minorities, etc). Full of people with little real world experience.

I don’t even know if a Clarke can rise to the top anymore. We want populist people with more PR skills than substance.

Ultimately economic theory is everything and only a few worldwide figures have the intellect to comprehend the ramifications of major changes. I feel change will happen overseas and we will follow suit. Any party here that says they will be transformational without highly intellectual individuals, will ultimately stuff things up they don’t understand (example: the Ardern/ Robertson govt).

We don't want to be run by intellectuals. There is more dead wood there than most groups.
Business people with real life experience and leadership is what we need, without being ideologically driven.
Anyway, eventually the shit will hit the fan here standard of living wise and those that think they are struggling now will be be pining for the good old days.

USA will be the yardstick. If Trump does okay and gets support that will be the new blueprint for the West. Musk will be sought out the world over as he is the intellect you talk about.
