Pump the brakes on Hingano FFS.

Kid had one debut game and all of a sudden he's now a replacement for TL? what happen to the likes of Mason Lino? all you fella's guaging over Tui at the start of the season have now gone cold on the kid?

Foran's the man for #6 jersey next year. I'd even give him captaincy and see how it goes. And before you all moan he's only here on a 1 yr contract - anything can happen. Could be a match made in heaven and he signs for longer after. Who knows.

One thing is for sure - Ata hasnt done anywhere near enough to prove to everyone he deserves a starting spot in next years line up.

People may be carried away with Ata, but naming a player who is yet to sign with us, has a huge injury cloud over his head, will most likely only sign a one year deal and is battling match fixing allegations and mental illness as your captain??? Surely Ata performing in first grad next year is not as far fetched as that?

Maybe you're right, but I am assessing based on his on-field performance and experience. As a well respected arm chair critic, i try not to bring peoples personal lives into the discussion, because you simply cant believe everything you read - even if it comes from "creditable" sources like the nz or syndey herald.

The one thing with a brand new coach, new slate, you would hope he’d lock some of these guys positions into place, if he just made the call straight away:

Fusitua you’re a winger. Finished product.
Lolohea you’re a winger too, who covers the rest of the backline on game day if injury. Work on your high ball game.
Vatuvei, ditch the speed work, pack on the weight, while your still under contract here, you are going smash some c*nts in the middle of the field. If it doesn’t work your times up I’m afraid.
Maumalo, you too, you got re-signed, you have a long transition to becoming a back rower ahead of you. (I don’t think he has the motor for it, but hey, could happen)
Lisone or Afoa you are now a fulltime edge player, we need to develop some more.

Obviously cappy is not likely to do any of this, if he is still here, and would Stacey might have a hard time making those calls as he’s been involved with these guys through the grades?

Even Ivan, with his previous reliance on Manu Super Winger, I guess it’s been long enough now, there’s only like 5 guys out of 30 in the squad who were coached by him.

Even if Cappy stays and makes those calls, it will just look like waffling, and they’ll never quite be sure if they’ll be moved back into their old position at random.

Even if some of them aren’t in their ideal spot, fuck ‘em.

Sounds good until Roger Tuivasa-Sheck goes down injured for a prolonged period. Uh Fusitua you gonna have to cover. Oh, Lolohea out of form and confidence, um Kenny on the wing please. What?!? 6 of them taking what? Shit........

Those with no comments are first picked in their favoured positions...

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. David Fusitua - Kid is a fullback/wing through and through. Classy finisher with genuine pace and step to beat his man.
3. Blake Ayshford - The only games where Blake Ayshford has struggled was when he was given a new combination to work with. The partnership he had with Tui in the early season saw both the right edge attack and defence on point. Given a full preseason with Fusitua he will adapt his game accordingly.
4. Solomone Kata
5. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad - Same mould as Manu in terms of having a big muscular frame but he's got a better footy brain and awareness. Tempted to throw Fusitua on the left but if Solo isnt gonna pass to him then he's wasted there. Enter CNK.
6. Tuimoala Lolohea - We all know that he's been promised the spot so little point naming anyone else there. Wont have long to prove himself with Ata Hingano right on his heels.
7. Shaun Johnson
8. Jacob Lillyman
9. Issac Luke
10. Albert Vete
11. Bodene Thompson
12. Ryan Hoffman
13. Simon Mannering (c)

14. Nathaniel Roache - If Cappy is going to insist on wasting a bench spot it may as well be a specialist hooker.
15. Sam Lisone
16. Ben Matulino
17. Manu Vatuvei - Manu's days on the edge are over IMO. He's now just delaying the development of his successor and needs to make way for a younger, faster and hungrier player. His talents arent wasted though. He's actually the perfect bench player as he ticks Cappys back specialist bench fluffer obsession but can also spend time in the middle without losing a step. And who better to bring on fresh in the 82nd minute to terrorise the opposition???

You pick Lolohea and Roache based on what the club has said and Cappys preferences, that kind of defeats the point of a pick your team thread. Is the only change you would make to our forward pack bringing Manu in?? We need a bit more of a shake up then that. Surely with a good off-season sipley should be in the 17?

Fair enough, just confusing when YOUR team is based on the fact that Cappy likes a back on the bench but I guess it is totally your prerogative to pick your team based on cappy.
Been a big fan of Tui's anyway so Im keen to see him get a go in his preferred position. So his selection is my choice as such. Get a feeling Ata Hingano will get a run there when Tui has a bad spell...

Interested in your thoughts around the forwards, do you rate Sipley? What about the balance of our back row

The teams backed into a corner with the backrow. The current three are the best we have but dont really fit in any other position like prop or centre. If I was truly in charge I wouldnt have Hoffman in my team at all but the reality is he'll be the first one picked. Id replace Hoffman with Ben Matulino but you try making a team without Ben at prop and your bench looks scarily thin...

14. Nathaniel Roache/Jazz Tevega
15. Sam Lisone/Bunty Afoa
16. Toafofoa Sipley
17. James Gavet/Charlie Gubb

I reckon he has shown as much as Lolohea without the frailties, I would say there is more chance of him being at 6 next year than anyone.
I would put Tui at Centre to sink or swim, Fusitua is an awesome winger so would rather have him there than as stopgap centre.

Agree with that especially the Hoffman comment but I want Lisone to step up and own that number 13, he has all the skills.
Ben on the edge appeals, needs to get his offloading game back, I dont know if this is the reason it disappeared but there is never anyone waiting for the offload and it shits me, Tompkins used to do it a bit and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is good running off forwards.

I have only seen 5 players having a dig every game they play this year .. and they are , in no particular order thompson / manners / Fusitua /kata / afoa ... build the other 12 around them ..EASY
