Doyle and Kearney will be burning up the phone no doubt. would complete kiwi puzzle they are building.
People (aussie media) would start looking sideways at the warriors salary cap if he came though. He could reasonably ask to be one of the highest paid forwards in the comp.

Storm must be a bit pissed, because they have no locals in the side, every single player they have is at risk of using family reasons to go somewhere else.

Surely we go after him if he is off contract imo that would be the prop we need and are looking for

was just about to share this, I think signing him would be incredible but I can't see it happening unless he was desperately homesick. Bromwich would have to be the highest paid prop in the comp when he signs his next deal and I doubt we'd be able to afford him even with the salary cap increase. Also remember that he's a leader over at the storm and seen as the next captain, he would want to leave a legacy with them and bring through the next gen of kiwi players that they have over there (I know they have a hooker, half/fb and would probably have a few more forwards too).

I also don't like the idea of us having EVERY topline kiwi player in this team, I'd like us to spread out the talent a little so we can get a big kiwi influence in each of the other clubs. This will help get younger guys to play for the kiwis if they have dual eligibility and keep up competition for spots, ultimately I want as many kiwi players in the NRL competition as possible.

I struggle to see how this is any different to any other Kiwi coming off contract.

I'm pretty sure every manager drops a line to the media that the Warriors are sniffing around when their player is coming off contract.

What you end up with is a throw away line saying "The Warriors would be keen" like there is in this article.

Further to that, there would be 14 other clubs outside of the Storm and Warriors making an enquiry. - Just don't see it happening

At the moment with the amount of players we have off contract I would be surprised if Doyle didn't make an enquiry ditto with Tamalolo. With Foran and Matulino still unsigned for next year we have the money for a marquee forward.

Still the storm have already lost Procter and Harris with McLean off contract as well. With the big 3 aging can't see them letting Bromwich go without a huge fight.

I agree with you but the thing is that now with Kearney being the coach any off contract kiwi player that has played under him esp someone like Bromwhich who has been a staple in kiwi sides under Kearney are gonna be contacted so at the very least the club is gonna get an conversation instead of an flat out no like maybe in the past.

At the very least I would hope Doyle and Kearney did there due diligence and contacted him and or Taumalolo since there both possibly off contract.

Also on that article;

WARRIORS BOXING CLEVER

STILL on the Warriors, rival clubs are currently fuming about some of the signings CEO Jim Doyle has been able to land.

The most common line is what salary cap are the Auckland-based outfit operating under?

But on closer inspection, there’s a strong argument it’s simply astute roster management.

English fullback Sam Tomkins was signed on a ridiculously over-inflated figure, which allowed the club to go out and sign Roger Tuivasa-Scheck from the Sydney Roosters on a deal worth considerably less.

And for all the furore about Tohu Harris Harris joining from the Melbourne Storm next season, what’s been largely glossed over is the club has told Ryan Hoffman he will be released at the end of this year.

Hoffman signed a three-year deal worth around $1.6 million back in 2014.

His departure at the end of this season was another reason why new coach Stephen Kearney opted to appoint Roger Tuivasa-Scheck as the Warriors new skipper for this season.

Could also add too it Foran took a pay cut to come here, rumoured to be $600k, under Bell's questionable tenure at the club, wouldn't be surprised if Tommy Crazy eyes was on something similar. If Foz does head back to Sydney, and Lillyman gets the chop, we could have a mill sitting right there to throw at Bromwich.

That plan would sit on Hingano being able to take the 6 shirt next season.

Add in Manu possibly being moved on. I cant fathom that hes still under contract for next year. Not hating on the big fella, just dont think he is worthy of commanding the money he would be on.

Not sure if money would be the primary motivator for Bromwich anyway. He is pretty well settled in Melbourne, held in high regard by the club which has nurtured him, gets to play with his bro, has one of the best coaches in the comp. And possibly be their next captain. Then again he may see the club DNA changing over the next few seasons as the big 3 slowly head towards retirement, along with Bellamy.

I still want to see Taumalolo at this club. A backrow of him, Tohu Harris and Mannering would be amazing. He has won the comp, got to play with a legend in JT, and cowboys have pretty decent depth in the second row with Fensom likely to sign with him due to salary cap pressures at Raiders.

On the flip side of this, my head says that these players should stick with their respective clubs and continue on their ways, and show loyalty to the clubs that have helped make them the players they have become. Not to mention that most players go backwards when they come from successful clubs to the Warriors. I would rather we develop our juniors to become the stars of tomorrow to rival the star power of those other players.

I think we're getting a little greedy asking for Bromwich and Taumalolo lol
With the class we have at the club now all we need is to fill out the squad with consistent, reliable first-graders in order to have a decent shot at the prem. This is where Kearney's coaching will be tested, he has a dream roster (minus a few forwards) already, time to see if he can get these guys playing well.

I've read at least one article speculating that the salary cap could go up by 3 million next year and the possibility of having a marquee player whose wages sit outside the cap. If that came true, I could see us spending around 2 million upgrading contracts/resigning some of our key guys that are off contract. That would still leave us with 1 million to play with plus the marquee. I'd be keen to see JD and EW do what ever it takes to get Taumalolo here as a marquee and then spend the 1 million strengthening either our front row or wings (or both).

Thing is that whatever amount the cap goes up by, it goes up for all teams. Players will also want their piece of the pie. Arent people on DCE on contracts where their contract goes up by whatever % the cap goes up by? We have a shitload of players up for renewal this year as well, and not only will we have to contend with everyones asking price going up, but also having to contend with big offers from rival clubs. And then theres the group of youngsters who will want upgrades from their minimum contracts.

The player market this year will be mental ,, Lots of contracts up for grabs , I'd say our team will look a
little different next season , Good times ,, Eric says he wants a forward he's just having trouble landing
one,, an I'd say he's in the circle of trust, at the Warriors

I say with confidence that we are not rorting the cap ala Melbourne 2010, Bulldogs 2002, Brisbane since 1988 however we now have a person in charge that understands the cap, TPA's and hopefully we can school clubs like the Roosters and Broncos to make sure we become a competitive club

Please look at Penrith and the outside back debacle they have.
Bring Dean Whare home.
He can mentor Fusitua side by side.

The thing is, we currently have the most talented centre pairing for as long as I can remember, that's for sure.. If Kata and Fusitua develop on what they did last year, there certainly is no space for Whare. The first 2 months of the season will decide that IMO. Then you still have Ashyford in reserves, who is solid as. And I think Lolohea's best position would be centre, but that's another discussion.

Funnily enough, I'm more concerned about our wingers! WTF.

wingers and prop are the current weakness in talent and depth IMO

In what world is Hiku better than Fusitua/Kata in attack? It's debateable that he's better than Kata in defense too.

The Ranger to league ship has well and truly sailed. Time to let it go.

Folau isn't coming here, journo nonsense

Whare was a top 5 centre a couple of years ago. Only prob is if he can survive a whole season.
