Who should be captain?
A discussion topic while we wait for the next match
Deliberately have not made a poll as want posts and discussion
Choices are
1 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak great mana and leadership skills
2 Tohu Harris Harris due to his seniority
3 Shaun Johnson because it's time for him to lead this team
4 Addin Fonua-Blake because he is the pack leader
5 Euan Aitken because not a bro for those who value that reason
6 Jazz in the hope the captaincy will knock some responsibility into him. Is already part of the leadership group
7 LAM as a dark horse option. Experienced campaigner
8 insert other option here ?

Good answers from all so far. Liked the Addin Fonua-Blake persuasiveness with refs explanation and reason

My personal vote is Shaun Johnson
He will be out talisman leader next year
The locker room will go quiet when he talks
He bleeds warriors and they will believe him at half time when he says we can come back from a 15 point deficit

Addin Fonua-Blake is not a strong verbal communicator from what I have seen.

English might be his second language?

All good in a huddle with the team, but you need someone strong that can put a rocket up the ref’s arse when needed. And deal with the sometimes cunty press & public.

You should have added a poll.

In the Nrl referees seem to offer a different level of respect to Captains who: a) have Spent longer in the Nrl than than said referee b) are perceived as a high level player with standing in the game c) have above average communication skills d) aren’t wearing a Warriors jersey.

If we can find someone who ticks 3 of those boxes that’s our man.

I like the thought of Tohu Harris and Shaun as co captains. Tohu Harris to lead the forwards and Shaun with the backs. Obviously as halfback, Shaun will call the shots on the field and has matured a lot since leaving and seeing the leadership at the sharks with the likes of Gallen, Graham. and Tohu Harris has seen from the best Cam Smith, Cronk, Slater, Bellamy but i dont feel hes as out spoken as i would like from a captain. Shaun is very vocal but i dont feel he holds the same mana as Tohu Harris so they would compliment eachother nicely

Other arguments for Addin Fonua-Blake is that a captaincy in any sport tends to increase the performance and maturity of that captain
If we had to pick one player we want to lift by ten percent wouldn't it be our metre eating prop
Secondly Steve price was a prop and thirdly the all blacks usually choose a forward

I am not a fan of Co captains. Would prefer a clear accountability on one guy to talk to the refs and players. Have you seen it work well with nrl teams, Co captaincy ? Or in your own playing career? Curious to know not asking to be combative

One captain to deal with the ref

One captain to inspire and lead the pack

We have co-leaders at work. As long as everyone is on the same page it can work.

I give Addin Fonua-Blake a three out of ten on these measures. The refs won't listen to him based on these factors
Tohu Harris won't get listened to either as he is a players player rather than a star
Dallin would be a 7 out of ten
Shaun an 8 or 9

Whoever we think can handle the refs the best. I don't think we've had a captain that gets adequate respect from the refs since pricey finished. He was a perfect captain for our team, veteran aussie rep player, guaranteed respect from the refs. Closest player I can think of for next year would be Shaun Johnson, but I'd be weary of giving him the title his first year back with the team.

Think it'll have to be Tohu Harris. Outside chance to Dallin Watene-Zelezniak if he comes in and tears it up, but having a captain in the backs is an issue. They need to be chirping to the ref all game. Watching DCE never shut up is infuriating, but effective.

My pick is Tohu Harris, but also Blake could go another level as a captain.

can only really comment from school first 13 days where we had an unofficial co captain type of style. Our ”star“ player was the one who done coin toss etc. but decisions were discussed between the two players who we looked up to the most. our fullback and prop. Fullback was obviously the star. but our prop was our backbone and really led the way for us and really set the standard. As a player in the team i had no problem being lead by two of our most influential players and had no problem with two voices and neither did anyone else. Although i do see that if one or the other doesnt hold the respect from all then there could be a bit of disfunction in the team. Respect is the key

I agree with you regarding Co-Captains, I believe it loses it‘s gravitas when Captaincy is divided among players on the field.

My preference would be Shaun Johnson, he’s controlling the side and is the voice being obeyed in getting his team around the park he also has the experience and maturity now. A referee can respect that.

How that would sit with the playing group coming back into the side I’m not sure but Brown could subvert it a little by strengthening the leadership group at the club and placing more importance on its dynamic than the voice of a solitary player.

I‘m not sold on Addin Fonua-Blake as a Captain, very chirpy to the refs in game and not I believe in a good way and has lost respect after the “retard comment”. I doubt they’d listen to him.

Shaun never got on that well with the refs, you could hear his "eh?!?"s through the mics and his face always looked life the ref had just told him the bars closed or you were doing 55 in a 50 zone or some other irritant.

There's few more respected players in the NRL than Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and they barely give him the time of day, not sure it matters to those criminals.

Should name our biggest whinger co-captain just so he can spend every break in play having a moan
