General Who is your second team?

So to keep my sanity I’ve decided I need a second NRL team to follow.

Who is everyone’s second team?

I used to be a Raiders fan pre Warriors but Sticky... i quietly have respect for the Storms success and ability to make average players great… but it’s the Storm. I’ve liked the Titans as a fellow perennial struggler - but they just beat us….

With very few options that I don’t have a historical grudge against I’m settling for the Knights this year!

Brisbane, never - the way the friday night broncos used to be catered to before they fell off in recent times
GC - aren't offensive, they might get it by default.
Manly, never.
Roosters, NEVER.
Sharks, never - even though most of their Gallen era players are gone, scumo fake supporting them on yesterday - yrrrch
Souths, read up on the way they handled sam burgess's behavior - disgusting club
Eels, a few wankers, but they are ok, sort of.. in a drought and once rorted the cap to get the wooden spoon, so its hard to mind them too much
Bulldogs, can go back to dissing Gould's involvement in teams now - they actually were my 2nd team in the SBW era - when were having those dark years in 04/05 - turned on them at some point.
Tigers, TBH i don't like the other battling teams that hover next to us around 11th on the table to do well, but always liked Big Ken.
Dragons, what's exciting about them? nothing. also big De Belin boosters (though allegedly we wanted to sign him too....
Panthers, juiced up and arrogant, fuck em.
Knights, similar to the tigers they are always around our level, even Browny beat us once at Mt Smart with them. Need them to lose if we are to have any chance at the 8.
Storm, never forget, never forgive, they are still massacring the ruck all these years later
Raiders, fuck ricky, the sook.

so its sort of the Titans by elimination, but they are a pretty lame franchise, no history, dumb name, stuffed their chances of being a real threat by making a 50 minute back rower the highest paid player in the game etc.

Watched them in the GF in 2017 against the cheating roos. We sat right smack bang in middle of the raider fans. I wore my Warriors T that day, but it was all love.

Gone off them recently, as in like to back Winners to counter the Warriors, so going with the Panthers and Uncle Ivan!!

Good call, the Bromwich brothers won't have that storm stench on them, and Bennett is mostly good value. How this season goes will determine whether it's a good or bad thing if they steal Walsh. He might be more trouble than he's worth for $1M

Yep Redcliffe next season for me too. At least it will be interesting seeing them evolve.
Meantime our poor broken sods need some support - well they play like they do

Raiders and Panthers are my backup teams.

I can never ever get behind the Storm - the way they've pushed the envelope (which, to be fair, any team management should do) to see what they can get away with in certain situations and the way the NRL have just rolled over and let the Storm chicken-wing, gang-tackle, crush etc pisses me off. I'll put myself in a very small minority and say I have no respect for Cameron Smith: handled the Alex McKinnon situation, how he just so happened to decide to announce his retirement on the same day as the NRL Season Launch for 2021, therefore taking away a large part of the media spotlight, his whinging over the salary cap breaches (I bet he knew damn well what was going on, or should at least have had an idea, as with Bellamy and maybe even Kearney... You have that many top level players in your team and you don't go "Hang on a tick!"? Rant over. Until next time.
The Sea Eagles, Broncos and Bulldogs I'll back if a win to them does the Warriors a favour but I've never warmed to those teams - as good as they have been over the years, if not right now, I've never felt the love for that trio, whoever's playing for them.
Every other team, really, I'll love 'em and leave 'em as is my wont. I'll follow an ex-Warriors performances in his next team but may or may not actually want his team to win if it doesn't help his ex-team.

Like Cces, I'll most likely replace one of the Raiders or Panthers with the Dolphins as of 2023.
