Its been a few days since we unveiled the site letting you guys play and explore. A few of you seemed to have found a few new features, so its time to show them to the rest of you guys to hopefully make your forum experience better.
Push Notifications
One of our most requested feature is push notifications. So what is push notifications? Its basically a realtime notification on your smartphone or your desktop browser, your browser does not even need to be open at the time. So say is someone liked your post, replied to your post, send your a private message, you will be able to receive that notification in realtime on your mobile phone/desktop browser even if you were not browsing the site.
To set it up, you need to enable
push notifications. You can then control what you would like a normal alert for, or a Push notification for. Default is yes to all if you enable it.
This needs to be done for each device you want to get sent a push notification to i.e. Computer, Mobile Phone browser.
Once setup, you will automatically get a notification in realtime on your desktop or mobile phone as you get an alert.
But...there is some bad news. Well for Apple users. It will not work on IOS browsers i.e. Safari. This is due to how Apple does not like to follow standards...
Reactions
In the past we were able to mark a post as a Like, Funny, Inappropriate or Offtopic. We have removed those and gone with the way that Facebook does reactions. You can react to a post as to how that post makes you feel. Default action of the button will automatically Like a post as we assume that is what most people will do. However if you want to react to a post differently, you need to hover over the button to open up other choices (on mobile press on the button for a millsecond to expose the additional menu for reactions. The below shows you how it works.
Bookmarks
It is now possible to bookmark posts that you can refer to later for either reference or to reply to later.
To do so, you need to enable the bookmark button for that post you want to bookmark. Optionally you can write your own message regarding the post.
To view your list of personal bookmarks, goto your account, and there will be a new bookmarks tab presented. You can then click on the bookmark to visit that post instantly.
Tables
It is now possible to add tables to any post. Example shown below on how to use.
Unfurl URLs
What unfurl does is automatically expand any links you post to expose part of the website content to show a little preview. The below example shows me posting a link, and upon pressing the reply button, automatically expands the link to display part of the content. This is similar to how you can post a twitter, facebook and many other links on the site as previously, which has now been expanded.
This is currently an experimental feature and may be disabled. I just really dont like how we dont have any control on how not to unfurl internal site links.
Markdown
If you use whatsapp or other applications that support markdown support you will know how useful it is to use characters to emphasise parts of your post by adding additional characters.
Player Ratings (coming soon)
One more thing. There are still some additional features that may be added in the future. I understand that there are some ads shown on the site that are particularly intrusive especially on a mobile. That will be tweaked soon. Just a reminder that if you wish to automatically have an ad free experience on the site, you can become a
