Warriors vs Broncos Gameday Chatter [Round 4, 2022]

Broncos3

I don't know about tonight. Neither side is playing that well.
Us by 1 point will do me
I'm interested to see if we have learnt anything from the games so far this season. It would be nice to see some combinations starting to form and some cohesion

A few things to keep an eye out for the train spotters & punters:

- The Warriors have claimed competition points in 5 out of their last 8 matches vs the Broncos but have won just once against them in QLD since 2014.
- Kevin Walter's has never been defeated by the Warriors in 9 games as a player or coach.
- Last time Chris Sutton refereed these 2 teams the result was an 18-all draw. The Warriors overall record under Sutton is 5W-1D-21L & the Broncos are 14W-1D-8L.
- The Warriors have conceded the first Try of the game in 5 out of their last 6 games (4 straight). They have also conceded the last Try of the match in their last 5 consecutive matches.
- A Warriors Right Winger has scored a Try in 7 of their last 8 games.
- Ryan James has only beat the Warriors twice in 15 attempts but has scored 4 Tries against them (tied top against all opponents).
- In the 5 NRL games played at Moreton Daily Stadium, the team trailing at halftime has gone onto win the game on 2 occasions.

A winnable game, would have to improve on the tripe they served up last week tho.

S J is a plus, interested to see the type of shape they throw up to how him and Walsh connect, and even tho theres still a glaring lack of class in our 3/4 line i like the changes out wide with some bigger bodies to help start our sets off and not get as dominated.

After my post game meltdown after last week's game I'm back on track after a week's mental therapy. This should be a good game going by previous encounters.I'm expecting to see a more focused effort. Also to my diehard bronco uncle in brizzie from day 1 this is our night mate.

I think I might double up on the blood pressure tablets in anticipation of another roller coaster ride.

Questions can the Broncos recover from last week and put us to the sword or can we somehow lift our game to sneak a win?

If we manage a win will that enable us to grow some internal belief that we are capable of making the top 8? We are really only playing fellow cellar dwellers at the moment so unless we start winning more consistently it will be back to sack Nathan Brown. There still seems to be fight in the dog, so we just need the boys to click.

Warriors win an arm wrestle but close, blood pressure will be challenged.

The major thing that Shaun Johnson should bring is that his creativity and playmaking takes a lot of the pressure off the men outside him, whether it's delivering a great short ball to his edge or a cut out to his wing.

Our centres and wings have very, very little ability to beat their man 1 on 1 other than trying to run over the top of them, so if they can focus on just catching the pass from Walsh on the left and Shaun Johnson on the right it should pay dividends.

Having said that if the ball ends up in the hands of a centre on 5th when we're 5m out, I'm going to lose the bloody plot.

Another banana skin game. Just hoping they dish up a more clinical effort than last week which in the finish became unwatchable.

Fingers crossed Shaun Johnson makes the difference and the pack gets some ascendancy without the dumb errors.

Janfin for me and first bet of the year on the Warriors

Man I hope last week's headless chickens get the basics right today, passes stick, tackles are made and completions are up.
Let the spine make the plays. Our centres and wings are shit and badly need to get their defensive structures sorted. Also on attack keep the ball away from them and play % footy more so on last tackle. If they can improve in those areas we may have a fighting chance.... let's gone...

I don't think we've done anything to earn the right to call any game a banana skin game.

If anything, we're the banana skin.

Warriors website;

Young centre Rocco Berry hasn’t been able to train this week after being struck down with a virus.

“He hasn’t tested positive for Covid but he has just had no energy in him,” said Vodafone Warriors assistant coach Stacey Jones.

“When a player can’t train, especially a young guy like Rocco, it’s a big ask to play him in an NRL game when he hasn’t had the right preparation.”

Poor kid. Probably has no energy and confidence because no one has been training him properly. Brown threw him under the bus after the Titans game and he got used and abused last week against the Tigers?!!

Sounds like a classic case of false negative Rona tests.

Pretty obvious it is Rona with a case confirmed in the set up.

Hopefully no one else gets sick.
