General Warriors Stats 2018

Warriors have won all of their games that they have led at halftime.
This is something we have really struggled with in previous seasons and must be really heartening for the team.
We have also shown in the Canberra game that we can come back after being down at the break but it would be good if we could turn things around in future games if need be.

Shaun Johnson has won 8/9 games he has been in this year.
This has gone past just being a kooky stat now, the Green/Johnson combination in the halves is the real deal. Let's hope his "one serious injury every season" is now done for the year and he keeps up this winning record.

Blake Green is undefeated as Captain.

That half time lead STAT makes total sense. You can tell by half time if the Warriors are going to win.

They are usually the better team in games, it is whether they show up and whether their bench / available depth due to injury... is strong enough that determines the outcome.

That is why I really hope this team goes top four. They will from there have a serious chance of winning the lot....they are better than even they realise.

Does this look reflective of the players performances so far this season?

All stats from player ratings collated per match.

Gives you an idea on who have been our standout players so far this season: (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Fusitua, Johnson(though lotta people will disagree),Issac Luke, Tohu Harris, and Leivaha Pulu) amongst other things.

Green = Good
Orange = OK
Red = Shit

Minutes :

With all the chat around our forward rotation this week I thought I'd take a look at who is playing what minutes so far this season :

upload_2018-7-11_10-2-47.png

Trends :

Papalii's minutes seem to be all over the show from game to game, unsure if that's due to in-game injuries or a game plan thing.

Of players coming off the bench, Jazz seems to have the exact same minutes every single week.

Satae's minutes are increasing from week to week.

The obvious :

There's 80 minutes in a game.

There are 160 minutes worth of prop time, 160 minutes of back row and another 80 minutes of lock.

So ideally with two 80 min back rowers, you're looking at 240 minutes in the middle being up for grabs.

Blair usually plays 60 of those
Jazz is taking 55
Bunty, Paasi and Gavet are given 40 each

So losing Tohu Harris and Bunty at the same time for an extended period would have really caused some headaches.

Stat of the week :

Warriors have the best Away record in the comp (7-2). Every other team has lost 3 or more games away from home.
With a stat like that, you start to wonder about mental prep and the distractions of home.

The other obvious factor is people getting too relaxed in their comfort zone here in Auckland.

Must do Kearneys head in.

It's a crazy turnaround considering we had 1 away win in 2017 and the best we've had since 2012 is 4.

Thought it was time to have a look at who has had the most success so far this season.

Obviously there's a lot more to it than just these simple numbers but still interesting nonetheless.

I believe that Harris, Blair and Luke will make a real difference if they play this week. And maybe time to give Hiku another go?

Sad to see Mannering on less than 50% but not surprising to see Tevaga down there.
