General Warriors SG Ball 2023

Those commentators were great for a SG game, better than the NRL lot.

You have to laugh when the main caller said "Fooko Fucker is back on the feild" (135:41 rewind it is worth it) listen to the poor man try so hard to re pronounce the name after that horror...he literally said Fucker.....hahaha

I am laughing because these are good blokes calling and no foul as far as I am concerned.

If you go back and watch the first half, our Prop with blonde hair (number 10, exscuse the no names) is the best defender in the side, Rabbits had a free reign after he went off. Wish I knew that number tens name, his grapple is awesome, he pretty much single handedly slowed the roll on of the Rabbits on their favoured attacking side.
Harry Durbin, yeah he really stood out today, was with Souths Logan last year and looks to have benefitted from their coaching. Blairy's done well too, pretty impressive defensive effort.

Hats off eh...and in a perfect world when these boys progress they would go up to a Reggies side under Stephen Kearney to start creating New Zealand RL players who are exceptional defenders as a baseline for all the other natural talent dna stuff that they might otherwise have relied on.

Then with that type of Coaching from the craddle, we would start to look like a Melbourne Storm type operation here.

I wonder if Kearney would be interested in a Development/Coaching role at a NSW cup level at some stage with us?

Surely he must know his NRL head coaching career is done unless hes hoping for a 3rd shot.

Depends on where his family want to live hey.

He is no dummy, and so respected in sport, he could find a job anywhere that would pay the mortgage and not necessarily in RL....Wellington and Maori sport would snap him up in the blink of an eye, his CV in that region for the Storm and the SK Cup is stellar.

He likely makes way for Ben Peni when he returns. Good competition for spots at the moment.
Have not seen Peni but I would never drop the only forward in that side that can grapple the ball into lock position and drive the runner to a pin on the back....that would just be asking for a faster opposition ptb speed which is dumb...and something no NRL coach would do........no disrespect to Ben Peni...drop someone else....

Apparently Blair said they are working to get a Jersey Flegg team in next year.

Great news considering we know they are trying get a Harold Matts team next year, unless he got the two confused..
Given that Harold matthews runs from February to April and the kids are 16/17 how keen are schools (and parents) going to be to release their precious union players to go back and forth to Australia every second weekend to play Louige? I’m sure the warriors could round up a side of non first XV players but isn’t that a pretty big blockage to the attempt to get these guys to come through the grades together?

Good first hit out for this team.

Blair has the raw materials there to develop a good young core of future first graders.

Was impressed with the contact areas on defence and offence, thats always a warriors strength.

To get a win for a new group on their first trip to sydney with different weather and surrounds they handled it well.

Good start and hopefully they can continue to build continuity in all facets of the game.

School rugby starts in May in the second term.

That's fair. To be frank, he's nowhere near as good as Ben Peni at this point in time. The other prop is Tanner Stowers-Smith who definitely isn't going to be dropped. Then at 13 is Leka Halasima who I thought was the best on ground today. TSS spent the full preseason with the first grade squad and Halasima spent parts.

Someone has to make way. I understand grappling is important but that's only one element to consider.

Nah....most Juniors cannot grapple...name me one.....

There are none except Mannering in his day...so.....think about all the samey crap that is out there and this one slowing of the ptb player, the mix of sides....

I can see already we have to agree to disagree.

But find me one grappler.

And I am happy to find a dozen of any other skill you like about Ben Peni or any kid for that matter.

Money ball bro...I am always looking for the player no one else wants who can get to first base.

In NZ RL that player is a tackler (coz in case no one has noticed after approaching thirty years the one area we are most shit is tackling).

Juniors fail to become NRL players because they cannot slow the ruck and control the tempo i,e they play Junior ball.....end to end rubbish.......the ones who make it...the ones who are familiar names to us...need minders imported from Aus on overs to do the job for them.....this is a system that let Tohu Harris Harris and Adam Blair go offshore.....Grapplers should be king in a NZ system.

He might be but don't we have an issue with his Management? He's a good team culture guy might even be good choice to replace Morgan.

That try from Fukofuka was standard strength. Feel sorry for the FB but he gave it a crack.

For your viewing pleasure of you missed it.
