Moley said it in his article so probably BS. Moley doesnt have any intel whatsoever within Warriors HQ so we can call that BS easily. Wasnt this article posted by RLW last week or the week before? Sure Ive read this exact same one earlier.

With Ben Matulino injured Gubb isnt going anywhere...

Yes this article was reported a few weeks ago. I think the mole must be sort of stories for the weekend.

We've heard before Gubb was keen to take a contract elsewhere, but the Warriors denied him. Think it was a more reliable source than the Mole?

Anyway, I don't mind this if it was true. He's OKish, but is hardly a future starting prop for us. Afoa, Sipley, Gavet all offer more in my mind. He's a hit and drop clone from the class of Jacob Lillyman..

I'd take John Asiata in a heart beat, but they wouldn't let any props go.

I'm not surprised the Gubb thing has come up again. The clubs after the player are usually persistent, the player and his manager who are getting offers from another club along with promises of more game time end up asking management for a release.

For the current club its a lot like having kids. You tell the potential club who ask about the player no. One no is usually not enough as you get why, followed by being asked again. Think of the player and his manager asking as the kid coming back to ask about something else their brother and sister coming back and pestering you. Again chances are one no isn't enough.

The Cowboys need a front rower to replace Tamou. I don't know their roster and their depth too well but I'd guess they must be proposing he'd be quite a good chance of making first grade along with a decent upgrade whereas he is looking at a bench spot (probably the same there) but he may be in for a bit more of a fight for his sport here seeing as Lillyman/Matulino are seen as the main front rowers then we have Vete, Lisone, Gavet and Gubb fighting out for the bench spots followed by the youngsters in Afoa and Sipley.

Gubb is hardly a replacement for Tamou. I doubt he would get anymore game time than he would here. They are probably offering double what he is on here for this season, which is cheap insurance if any of their props get injured. I would gladly take Kaufisi or Asiata as a trade, even offer a few extra dollars.

They have good young props.
Bolton will probably take Tamou spot.

They have Asiata , Kaufusi , Hoare , Spina , Jensen.
Even back rower Coen Hess has the frame to move into the middle.

I think the replacement thing is just a handy media spin. Fact is the Cowboys coach Paul Green was coach at Wynnum Manly when Charlie Gubb played there and they won back to back Premierships in the Queensland Cup. If Green is after Gubb its not as a replacement for Tamou or even Hannant as Gubb is nowhere near either ones level. He'll be wanted because Green saw something all those years ago that he knows he can develop, extract and fulfill. With Gubb coming to that age where props start to peak it'll be make or break for him. As a player who would you trust with your future? The Warriors and rookie coach or a proven coach in the Aussie system???

I'd say you have just wacked the nail firmly on the head. Green having coached Gubb before means he is familiar with him, likewise Gubb being familiar with Green and his methods. That is probably why this Gubb to the Cowboys rumour has gotten more traction than when he was linked to the Tigers etc previously.

If a coach has coached a player previously either at another club or another grade they will often seek them out for an opportunity elsewhere. We saw the same with Allwood coming here after previously being coached by McFadden. We also hope for internationals due to Kearney previously being the Kiwis coach.

They may not see Gubb as a direct replacement for Tamou or Hannett but losing those two their front row depth is probably a concern which explains the interest.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about this up until round 1. After round 1 if he isn't getting game time (forgot when his suspension finishes) we will probably hear about it until June 30 when the trading for 2017 finishes.

I've read elsewhere that Gubb has said the articles are all shit and he's as happy as clam at the Warriors. Hoping for more minutes with Muts injured.

Whether he stays next season is another question. Depends on how he goes this season I guess and whether he can stay on the field and resist the urge to use his shoulder again!

FIGHT FOR HARRIS

Melbourne have a fight on their hands with Warriors coach Stephen Kearney making a play for Kiwi international Tohu Harris Harris.

Market Watch can reveal the former New Zealand Test coach is eager to make Harris his first signing since taking the reigns as head coach.

Kearney has a high opinion of Harris but knows they will need to make him an enticing offer to pull him away from the Storm.

The Storm have made the retention of the 25-year-old their top priority.

A third club is also understood to be chasing the powerhouse, with the offers tabled all of a similar monetary value and range from three to four seasons in length.

With more than 100 NRL games to his name since debuting for the club in 2013, Harris has become one of the Storm’s most consistent players.

That’s why Harris headlines a host of talented player’s off-contract this year including Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Will Chambers, Dale Finucane, Felise Kaufusi, Jordan McLean, Billy Slater, Suliasi Vunivalu and Christian Welch.

Part of the Storm system since moving from New Zealand at the age of 17, Market Watch can reveal that Harris will make a decision on his NRL future before the season kicks off in the first week of March.

Direct swap next year, Hoffman leaves, Harris arrives? If Hoffman is on $500,000, Harris will want more than that. Wade Graham wants $750,000.

An "enticing offer" doesn't exactly mean the highest offer.

I'm sure there is allure of coming home, and he would have a great relationship with Kearney from his time as Kiwi's coach.

I'm thinking something like a Captaincy offer is what makes something more "enticing"

Tohu Harris is a great workhorse like Mannering and Bodene.
Paints the same picture for me.

NAS or Christian Welch would be more welcoming for me as they offer an attacking presence.

Would have no issue with Tohu Harris though.
Plays with his heart on his sleeve week in week out.
Can see this work ethic rubbing off on our Warriors.

The Warriors got Hoffman for about 650k according to articles at the time.

Young, good quality Forwards cost A hundred K more to import.

This is likely a fairly reliable, since it was reported around the time we signed Hoffman....that we had offered Proctor and Glen around 750.

Simon Mannering earns top dollar too , and Frankly deserves it.

I hope we get Harris, every year he seems to add something to his game.

He fits the bill as far as tacklebot status goes, unfortunately the Warriors have to place defensive backrow types at the top of there recruitment planning, because the work load always seems to fall on these guys who carry the rest.

It's no secret that the Warriors are dead in the water when they lose Mannering.

They may even be looking at Harris as a long term replacement for Mannering.

What we really need is a high workload effective Prop, but we can't develop them here, Aussie develops them....they are Un affordable to import, so backrowers are where we seem to stretch the buget to flash up our pack a bit.

Tohu Harris would probably tell Kearney " yeah a that's a great honor for me and my family, its humbling to be offered the Captaincy" ....

Privately he would probably imagine sitting in a post match presser with Mooks after getting raped by Uncle Craig, Cam, Coops, Jesse and Sideshow Bob....

"Sideshow Bob" has already gone to the Titans all of a sudden.

Actually good to have some recruitment news. Is there more to the Glenn rumour besides the Mole doing:

Kearny ex bronco assistant + Glenn current Bronco and New Zealander = a bit of a link so lets run with a rumour.

If there is it means we are looking at some back rowers which I'm not opposed too, Hoffman might like another year but I'd look at his age and be looking for a younger guy.
