Moley who is a few weeks behind the NZ Herald has reported the following:

Glenn eyes homecoming
nrlp-glenn-960x610.jpg

The Warriors kept their wallet in their back pockets this off-season, signing just one player – the controversial Kieran Foran – and there is still no guarantee he will be there in 2017.

But the club is preparing for a clean-out for 2018 and have identified Brisbane back-rower Alex Glenn as their number one target.

Glenn is an Auckland boy and with the Broncos having a host of players coming off contract, they could struggle to keep him.

^^^ Agree with above here. I don't see what value Glenn would add to our forward pack, assuming he would replace Hoffman.

This is just an article born through that interview with Glenn saying moving home isn't off the radar. Hardly means he's our top target.

He is not much different from our stock of backrowers. Would be a good utility but do we need that sort of player? I am also very wary of us becoming a last port of call for Kiwi's before they retire. This is a business not a family reunion.

Alex has had a great career , nothing but respect for a brother.
We have Bunty on the rise , Bodene will move into the workhorse elite class this year.
Joseph Tapine , James Fisher Harris or another enforcer would have me looking forward to 2018.

I like the idea of Alex Glenn replacing Hoffy. It'll bring consistency in defence and attack giving he plays exactly like Bodene Thompson. Same types of players and gameplan could be consistent whether your targeting the left or the right edge and with our dangerous spine, they'll rip any team to shreds on their day.... if that day comes it'll be poetry in motion. Hopefully our new world class coaching staff find the recipe

JFH re-signed last year until 2019/2020 didn't he?

I doubt he's on anyone's recruitment list at the moment.

Nope. Manager games.

Besides, if Glenn was our top target there's no way the media (or any of us) would actually know about it.

And no offense to Glenn, but with the talent that is off contract, if he's our top target then whoever is involved with recruiting needs to be asked some serious questions.

I'm a Glenn fan, even wanted him here 2 years ago mainly for experience and leadership hard out but I'm with the previous posts, manager hype IMO Can't see him coming, spend the money in other positions.

The Mole says we want Izzy:

Warriors set to splash the cash on Izzy

THE big-spending Warriors have set their sights on one of world rugby’s biggest names for 2018 – Israel Folau.

Folau is currently contracted to the Waratahs in rugby union but is known to be open to an approach to league.

The 27-year-old was a sensation with both the Storm and Broncos before defecting to AFL in 2011 and then union in 2013.

Only last month, Folau went on a speaking tour of New Zealand with Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei raising awareness of mental health issues.

The two are close mates and Vatuvei no doubt talked up the Warriors as the pair toured the Shaky Isles.

The Warriors spent little money over this off season but are believed to be ready to splash out the cash on Folau next year.

I'd say most, if not all the NRL teams, would be looking at whether they could afford him or not - the recruitment staff/CEO's wouldn't be doing their jobs if they weren't. His management have probably been approached by a number of clubs - or should expect to be over the next few months.

The Mole's piece, less the two lines about Manu, could be about most NRL clubs - and Super Rugby teams.

I wonder when the Herald might learn that the mole isn't the most "accurate" source of news about the NRL.

NRL: Israel Folau to the Warriors in 2018?

The Warriors are believed to be making a play for Wallaby and former league star Israel Folau.

The former Storm and Broncos outside back is currently contracted to the Waratahs in Super Rugby but Rugby League Week is reporting the Warriors have shown interest in the 27-year-old about crossing the Tasman for the 2018 season.

Folau, who made the move to Australian Rules in 2011 and Rugby Union in 2013, is engaged to Silver Ferns netballer Maria Tutaia and a move to Auckland might not be out of the question.

The Warriors have cap space available to them with a number of stars coming off contract at the end of this year including Kiwis halfback Shaun Johnson.

Johnson has been rumoured to be considering a move to English rugby.

The Warriors are yet to respond to the Herald's calls.

What's funny is that Izzy would take Manu's job.
Would depend, if the Warriors did get him, on where they wanted to play him. Izzy played more internationals as a winger but more club games as a center (including winning the DallyM center of the year in 2008 and playing center in two grand finals).

Could will be that he plays right center and it's actually Fusitua who replaces Manu on the left wing outside of Kata.

Or it could actually be complete bollocks
