As we all know, Euan Aiken will not be a warrior in 2023 and also by the looks of things same as lodge, they don't want to relocate to new Zealand 2023, what do use think about there decision?? me I think that's a weak and soft excuse, did they think warriors were going to be permanently based in Australia.

Think in the case of Aitken he wanted a longer contract he wasn’t given. Can understand being fine with moving countries for 3 years but not for just one year. Think this has more to do with the perceived ‘Aussie boys bailing as soon as they have to go to nz’ slant

Exactly.
Lodge and Walsh both having options in their contract for 2023 is just run of the mill contract stuff. Those 2 are being added to a one-off case with Aitken and being made into a "thing" by uneducated Aussie media and uneducated former Warriors coaches.

- on the uneducated media topic, why does the forum facebook account post the exact same content as zerotackle? zerotackle posts horrible clickbait crap.

The ZeroTackle article is a weird read. Mind you a lot of these articles are as they seem to be pushing an agenda as it seems like they would prefer Walsh to move to a Queensland based club. Some of the facts are a bit off.

The comments are like players will refuse to move to New Zealand. Then has comments from Aitken that match what we know. He would have moved to New Zealand like the plan was originally but he has other factors. My understanding it's his partner or something to do with her education and the fact he has already moved a couple of times already with the clubs' current situation.

We already expect Nikorima and Taylor to not be signed with the club. This might be mutual with the club not wanting to sign them and the players preferring to stay in Queensland. When these two announce their future it will further fuel the losing Australian players' narrative.

We need to remember each player is different. Different contractual terms and different family situations.

It would be great for the team they recruited during the pandemic to return next year. It likely won't happen as NRL sides usually have a high turnover of talent anyway.

We get some games in Auckland this season to cheer them on and a way to thank the players who have signed with the club while they have been gypsies moving each season.

I've read one article that sounds like the players are hesitant to come back for the games this year. The journalists forget the club is travelling over for the games not relocating the playing group at the end of the season.

Addin Fonua-Blake has resigned long term.
Curran has resigned long term.
We have signed 3 decent players for next season that should fit in the first-grade side somewhere.

I've seen Montoya mentioned in places. His improved form since joining would attract interest but also could entice him to stay. Seeing him interviewed on the weekend he seemed keen to return to New Zealand with the club. Sure that could be for the 2021 games. But the point is I don't think it is as bad as the Aussie media are making out.

With the way this team is managed and run we will always be a stepping stone team. Players who are slightly out of favour or aren't getting the game time can come here to use the Warriors to try and get game time or a nice retirement check or to get some time between their indiscretions. And because (as i have mentioned before) the Owners want instant success they jump at the chance. Even with overs and get out clauses. Which then comes at the expense of juniors who are trying to come up. And we are fed this bullshit about leadership. Yeah lodge has been great (sarcasm). Then they move on and people here are all butt hurt. But we quickly move on to the next couple of "future legends" that need to use the warriors e.g OOOO I cant wait for Metcalf to come and save us and lead us to a premiership with Dylan Walker. Nek Minnit. Watching this team is the most depressing thing ever. Lets actually get a plan for the next five, ten, fifteen years. People moan about the Storm and Penrith. But they have grown their side from youngsters and added to them with players to compliment. You cant win by buying a team and growing some juniors to compliment. Especially when those that you are buying are only for themselves anyway.

We turned Aitken into a slow useless forward instead of getting the most out of him as a ball running centre great on D, then when we were down an experienced centre and possibly lost us a game this year (Berry) we sure could have used Aitken, so I dont really mind too much. We have Dylan next year, a step up if anything.

Lodge, Im yet to see a quality game from a so calld enforcer who couldnt make it through half his work load one game this year due to heat, he lacks intensity, so no issue letting him go.

Walsh, this I have an issue with, you sign with a club knowing they are going to likely be playing in NZ. Honour your "word", but there is a clause in it, stupidly. I wish we had signed a quality FB for next year not Metcalf and if Walsh does stay, play him at 6, now that would be a heck of a spine.

But all of this highlights being based in NZ and how hard it is to sign marquee players.

Cant be just base ourselves in NSW (Gosford) and return to Auck, Welli and imo CCH for home games? Keeping our based in Aus card alive.

Don’t forget Kodi doesn’t want to relocate here either.

I lived 2 years in Sydney.

Over-rated.

Except for Bondi beach. That place is awesome.

So what’s the answer Champ?

How would you do things differently if in charge?

Nothing is impossible

Thats a bit rough BM. The greater Sydney region, plus Wollongong and Central coast has some of the most spectacular places in NZ/Aus on the door step. Plus they have trains to all the burbs, thats one thing that sucks about Auck is not developing a train line. Maybe I need to be your tour guide to all things great and Blues ;-p. South coast NSW is where its al if I had to pick a fav NSW region. The one thing I like about Auck is the islands in the Gulf, make for good sailing/boating.

I think if you had said Brisbane id have agreed. Although, once again trains make the place liveable and the Sunshine coast is real nice and northern NSW is only 5 hours drive.

That is good news about Kodi though. Has he really had an offer? Who is gonna sign that scrub? Hes been on $250k overs since he left Broncos and anybody signing him better not pay more than $250k for him.

I think Dolphins will make a play for Walsh. I hope the kid does the morally correct thing and sees the adventure in moving country at a young age. If hes not going too, he needs to let us know soon.

Personally, I think Shaun Johnson and Chanel Harris-Tavita make a great halves combo, the issue in the spine for me is the FB, which is why I hope we sign Drinkwater, and Egan, I hope he continues to improve his speed out of dummy half or clearing pass. Its not a complicated role, but he was making it look complicated. If we can get him running every time there is 1 marker or offside markers, and we have a FB who can follow him like Papa does with harry grant (and all his offloading forwards), we could end up with a dynamic spine on the cheap.

Some saying Metcalf cant tackle, I havnt seen that yet, but if not then I think hes a backup half or utility. Gotta have somebody at FULL BACK, who has grown up eatn, drinkn, dreamn Defensive Vision and tackling 1vs1.

Fans have to understand that the NRL is first and foremost a business. The Warriors, a business. Players, employees. Just as you and I do in our workplace we have rights and preferences in terms of what, where, when and how we work. If my employer moved countries that would involve a great deal of thought as its not just me but my family, friends and financial obligations. Am I really going try to buy a house in the over priced Auckland market lol?

Its easy to take an emotional stance on this issue. You wouldnt be a fan if you didnt take some offence. But remember that players, coaches, trainers, owners all come and go. Only the fans remain the same...

Who are all these players that don't want to move back? Apart from Aitken, whose partner works in healthcare & has had to relocate with him twice already following the team in the last 18 months, who are the others who are contracted for 2023 & don't want to come to NZ? Everyone is just buying into Tony Kemps clickbait

We are basically cheering for the colours. For the Warriors it was a bit hard to do that some years the way the jerseys were changing with home, away, alternate, ANZAC, heritage, special reason #43.

Kemp probably doesn't have any inside knowledge of the inner workings of the club at the moment. He's probably getting his information off the Aussie news sites and regurgitating that which then helps them feed their narrative.
