Sorry this has already been touched upon elsewhere on the forum, but Elliot apparently wants Timana Tahu for 2014 if he doesn't re-sign with the Knights.

The Dragons are also apparently keen on Mateo.

Timana Tahu. If he comes over for $100K then cool. He's a class act thats had more experiance then probably any centre/wing in the game to date. I'd only want him for that though. Be great for our young centres and wingers coming through. Of course he's not going to accept $100K so I say no way!

Forget about Tahu, Taylor, Manu, etc... Re-sign Locke and Mateo first, then play the field...

I'd take Mara over Waddell any day. Strictly as a hooker I'd rate him over godinet but if your looking at someone to come off the bench godinets utility value gives him an edge.
The things I do like about Waddell is he defends above his weight, has a bit of a kicking game, has played a fair bit of first grade and will come very cheap- don't rate his distribution or running game tho.
Canberra picked buttris over him who is mud and the knights don't really have a back up after buderus but still didn't offer him a contract despite trialling him.
If it's life after friend we are looking at I think Kurt baptiste may have been a better target- very good young hooker and I noticed he didn't make the broncos squad for this trial, still only 21 but stuck behind some quality players.
If the club thinks we need more depth at hooker for this year fair enough but this makes me wonder about friends recovery

Good call "D".Surely just a depth issue but like you i'm not sure if we will see Friend again a la Steve Price.Those Bronco youngsters like Baptiste are pretty loyal and hes only an injury away from the 17.

Why is everyone rate mateo so highly? personally yes i think he is a good player with obvious downfalls of crap passes/offloads etc. But when you are talking about paying him over 300 k a year? surely we can get better for that price?

He just needs one game to find his mojo. We all know what he can do. He will get there. His experience is vital to for the young 2nd rowers at the club. See what he decides.

Yeah I alluded to the same point in another thread...somewhere around here.....about the way the Warriors sit on their rough diamonds and promote players based on personality which fit with their mission statement.
I'm guessing it is a corporate lead mentality within the club.....pets get promoted , people who know how to communicate their value......raw talent is a lesser quality.
i wonder how many players they kill off in the long term by placing NRL experience and personality fit within the playing group over taking a gamble and developing these guys.
The Warriors lack balls. They treat hooker as a slot to find room for their favorites instead of having the guts to put a Lance Hohaia back to the Vulcans when they are over loaded with halves.

Throw Ian Henderson in with those names and Lewis Brown was playing at hooker during parts of last season so I don't know wtf management is on when it comes to that position, pretty outraegous mindsets if you ask me. Your right in that it's held a couple of players back mainly Seluini and Mara who are specialists hookers were both key players at 20's level but haven't gained much first grade action on a consistent basis, either out of favour or cameo 10/15 bursts off the bench.

Just think Mara and Godinet have a lot more to offer.
Would sign him for depth only and only if he is cheap.

i think Dean Bell is going to have a very busy year...

with us being so far under the salary cap and the squad not changing a hell of alot since last years disapointment, i hope the cheque book is coming out for 2014...i think this year, mid table, end of the year, spend up large.....the salary cap is there to be used, you dont get a pak n save voucher for not spending it !!!
