General Warriors Junior Program Reform

Jeremiah Asi- St. Peter’s
Vailima vailea- Aorere
Francis Manulelelua- Kings
Ali leiatauia- kings
Eric Vaafusaga-Kings
Ben Ake- St Kent’s
Tamiro Armstrong- AGS
Zyon Maiuu- Kelston
Tony Tafa- Kelston

are the ones I know about, there is probably more
You can see the type of outside back that POS is going for. Its the prototypical Joseph Manu build. Asi, Leiatauia, Armstrong and Vaafusuaga were all playing the NZ U18 game the other day and are all are tall outside backs around 6'2, all of them still pretty slim however they're still very physical and have room to put size on later. POS obviously thinking into the future instead of just signing the first nuggety ball of muscle he can find like prior recruitment managers at this club.

Cannot wait to watch Francis Manuleleua in SG ball next year. Age wise he's the best prospect we have ever had signed to our club in my opinion.

The player that stood out for me in that game and very much reminded me of Joey Manu Was Daeon Amituanai. Ended up with a hat trick and was dangerous every time he had the ball. Played a couple of games for the SG ball side also. Tony tafa is someone who also impressed.
Francis would probably be our best junior currently. The club see him as a John Sutton type player. He’s a big kid still with a couple of years left of high school.

Yeah Daeon Amituanai was good. I don't think we've developed a prop as big as Tony Tafa with his kind of motor. He's a monster. Zyon Maiuu surprised me also.

Not sure if I see the John Sutton with Francis. He'll end up 10x more athletic than Sutton. I see more of Jack Wighton I think.
He has the kicking game to play in the halves if he wanted, but who knows how big he will get given that he's only 16 and his junior kiwis brother is 6'3. He could be dangerous at fullback/centre or he could grow into the second row.

Guys stop giving me hope! 😂 loving all the talk about these young guns and yes its great to hear our junior SG Ball team is not scrapped, well done Cameron George.

Yup confirmed junior teams still playing next year.

There may be a preference to move to Mal Meninga Cup in order to align with Redcliffe and only runs for six rounds which isn't too expensive for them to enter. SG ball also moving to under 19 format.
Does anyone know the full SG Ball Squad please
Would appreciate the information

I can't believe the club would cut all junior teams, and the reserve grade side and expect us to develop players? They must of had another plan of sorts instead. Anyone know what they were thinking?

I think having an under 16s, and under 18/19s will eventually end up being more more beneficial for the NRL squad than just having a reserves side. I'm interested in seeing how this Dolphins combo will work though. If our squad has no injuries there are about 11 guys wanting a game out of NRL, can't see them all getting a game.

Just shows who knows what at the club. Yes there are obvious challenges but If anyone there thinks the club has a chance in the Nrl without a solid junior base they’re kidding themselves.

They shouldn’t need Brownie/POS/Gould to tell them that.

I can confirm that I’ve heard POS also backed the calls for SG Ball and Harold Matthews teams.
He backed it 4 months ago as well but was still trumped by Mark Robinson. This was the work of Nathan Brown and Phil Gould to get that reversed with Gould making it a deal breaker. POS doesnt have that push or it would never have been scrapped in the first place...
