General Warriors Jersey Flegg Cup 2018

Good player. Kids got some serious wheels. Played fullback but was relegated to wing when playing age grade Kiwis cause of Christian Tuipulotu. What position was he playing???
He played fullback and centre. Showed exceptional speed and skill all tournament one game in particular against QLD schools when he turned, chased and one on one stripped all in the one play. Took out tournament MVP for NSWCHS as well.

Back-to-back wins for Vodafone Junior Warriors

For the second week running the Vodafone Junior Warriors have muscled up against higher-ranked opposition to grind out victory, beating the fifth-placed Sydney Roosters 22-14 in today’s 19th-round Jersey Flegg Cup encounter at Mount Smart Stadium.

The win followed their gritty 14-12 success against second-placed Penrith last Sunday giving them back-to-back triumphs for the first time this season.

The home side stayed in the grind in the opening quarter before winger Emanuel Tuimavave-Gerrard scored an unconverted try in the 19th minute.

Halfback Eiden Ackland then snared a double, his second a 95-metre effort when he opened up the Roosters’ defence from in front of his own goal posts.

That had the Vodafone Junior Warriors out to a handy 14-0 lead at the end of the first 35-minute spell.

There was a suspicion it wouldn’t be enough, though.

Back came the Roosters in the second half, first preventing the Vodafone Junior Warriors from adding to their tally and then turning up the heat with two converted tries to trail by just two points before levelling up 14-14 with a penalty seven minutes from full-time.

Two minutes later Emanuel Tuimavave-Gerrard put the Vodafone Junior Warriors ahead 16-14 with a two-pointer.

They repelled the Roosters and then punched downfield, Ackland pumping through a long grubber kick towards the visitors’ right-hand corner. They failed to cover it, the ball went loose and rookie centre Siave Tupou pounced to score. Tuimavave-Gerrard’s splendid conversion from the side-line had the home side safe.

The fifth win of the season leaves the Vodafone Junior Warriors 10th, four points outside the top eight.

The Vodafone Junior Warriors are bidding to extend a form revival when they take on the Bulldogs in the Jersey Flegg Cup.

They’re coming off back-to-back wins for the first time this season after beating second-placed Penrith 14-12 and the fifth-placed Sydney Roosters 22-14 in the last two rounds.

The results have moved them to 16 points, still sitting 10th four points behind the eighth-placed Bulldogs.

They’ll use a line-up showing a number of changes including a reappearance in the under-20 grade for wing Lewis Soosemea, who has spent the season playing up in the ISP.

Didn't realize Soosemea was still eligible for U20. Seems to have been in the ISP side for ages. Good to see him back, love the wheels.

Is Eidan a future warriors half? He is best mates with Nathan Cleary FYI.

Who else has potential?

Preston Riki, Tom Ale, Isaiah Papali'i, Chanel Tavita-Harris, Hayze Perham, Soane Hufanga, Wesley Veikoso and Lewis Soosemea all have huge potential and are all still Jersey Flegg eligible.

Papali'i is clearly going to have a long career if he wants to and stays fit. Kids the next Simon Mannering and if the club play their cards right he will also emulate Mannerings 300 game feat.

Perham will play NRL no doubt about it unless he gets poached to Super Rugby. Probably going to be put on the wing at first. Love to see him bulk up a bit. Such a talented player with ball in hand.

Riki and Ale will at the very least debut. I'm a big fan of Riki's. Last junior I saw like him was Russell Packer. Both fearless at that grade.

I think Soosemea will likely be the next debutant from that lot unless we have a horror run of injuries to our halves than Tavita-Harris will get a run. Love to see him developed as a centre.

I'm a fan of Eiden Ackland. Kids got excellent footy smarts but seriously needs to bulk up. He's much better than he was last season but still needs to pack it on. Problem is he needs to do so slowly so he could be years away. I rate him though and he should get a run in ISP in a couple years...

How has Kakoi Togoiu been playing? I really rate this kid as a monster in the making. Has he been killing it in Jersey Flegg?

Really good question. HUGE potential but given he's come in to JF late this year it won't be realized in 2018. 6'4", 120ish kg. He went missing for a bit after an ACL took out of league all of last year.

His brother though Siave has been killing it as well in the centres. The Blues were trying to get him earlier in the year but the Warriors managed to keep him.

Massive props on those brothers. I remember last year and the year before there was a bitter race to sign them. Every week the rumour was changing on who they had signed for. Think the money got them in the end. The one thing that union can't match...

Jesus, though Siave was long gone to the blues. Didn’t realise he played against the Rorters. Here’s hoping CT signs. Would be good if we could get some footage of some of these young guns
