General Warriors: From obsession to apathy

totally agree as a farmer i work my guts out 70-80 hours a week( depending on time of season) and since the clubs first game in 95 i have been hooked on the highs and lows of the club thriving on the us against the aussie teams ..but recently i to have become numb watching the games buggering off with still 20mins to go is the norm lately ,where is the passion and fight, maybe these prima donnas need to come on the farm for a while getting shit and pissed on in the cowshed out in the freezing rain and mud bugger all time off,to realise how bloody lucky they are to be paid for what they do .i have about 5 or 6 warriors jerseys i will be giving away i dont want them burnt( worked to hard for that )just dont have the pride to wear something that represents not trying and giving up .
I'd be more than happy to offer some money for them if you are serious, I too am a farmer, just not a rich one. Infact at present getting ready for gypsy day all over again

I really wonder if the players know how the fans are feeling right now. One could argue do we know how they are feeling?..although i would say its hard to feel empathy when you know they are getting paid obscene amounts of money..... those on low income i get it. But so many of these players are on $$$$ we can only dream of....where is the empathy in that????????

Some of them are on peanuts to be fair.

No matter how bad the Warriors have become, they still provided me with three of my favourite life moments - I was at both games in 2002 and 2011 when we qualified for the GF as well as Olympic Park when Witt held the ball above his head before planting it to deliver one of the great finals upsets...

However I'm like everyone else on here, complete apathy towards the current club. I felt nothing when the Panthers came back from the dead two weeks ago and couldn't have cared less that I couldn't see the game on the weekend against the Dragons (thank god).

Unlike most on here, the Foran signing was the key catalyst for my negativity on the Warriors to step change (although like most on here the negativity had been slowly building as poor season of results followed poor season of results). I simply couldn't understand the trade and lost all faith in our club having any chance of implementing a strategy that would deliver sustainable improvement under the current management and more importantly the current ownership of Eric Watson. It is incredibly sad that it has got to this.

Its a hard to keep watching rubbish. I do believe an awakening is about to happen due to the number of players coming off contract.

However, before it does happen the recruitment strategy needs refining away from having a quality spine to a team with a quality heart and forwards.

Part of the issues we are seeing is the lack of a good set of forwards, with heart and mongrel. Fix this issue and it will then provide Shaun Johnson and TBA a foundation to attack.

Average halfs like Rovelli, Fien and Witt were outstanding playing behind on our intimidating pack we had. Even George Gatis looked good.

Palu and Harris are good starts.

On friday night I culled everything warriors, facebook, instagram and twitter etc, this is now my only source, fix if you like. Just got sick of them spamming my page and the players more worried about social media. I almost feel we are just over exposed, especially in OZ with a 24hr league channel, its just too much.
Atleast on hear we dont try and polish a turd and call a spade a spade.

Im like alot of others i use to scream at the tv when the boys were playing shit.
I use to jump up and scream when we made a break down field.
I would wear my jersey with pride come game day and never missed a game.
Now i will sit there and watch. not saying a thing.
If theres something to be done i will record the game and if were playing shit fast forward it.
I think its like i have been beaten so long that i feel no pain and have no passion.
They will always be my team. But i can not make any more excuses for their performance.
Just cause 1 player is out does not make a reason to play like mud.
Look at the other teams that have players out.

I did that after one of our many embarrassing losses earlier this year. It's oddly freeing, having those stupid posts out of my life. I have to make an effort to visit this site if I want to know what our clueless mob are doing.

There's a couple of problems at the Warriors as I see it. This is one of them.

Watching Shaun Johnson's efforts before he signed his $1 million dollar contract, and his games since.

He was putting big shots on with his defense, in the Storm game. You could almost say he was lifting the team. We looked competitive against the best in the biz.

April 28 he signs his new contract. We beat the roosters with some freak goal line defense, and nothing more. Johnsons game play was shocking. Absolutely crap. And it's continued to be crap.

How was he not sat down after the first 40 mins of his shocking play and had the fuck yelled out of him. Sadly the rest of the team has followed him down.

Yes that's right Pawn Shop Johnson, the highest paid player is the leader of the team, even if he's not the captain.

The players are looking at you Shawn, and your tiny little soft as fuck Johnson, and wondering "what do I have to do to make $50gs a game?" Then when they see zero effort and zero skill on display it fucks everything. EVERYTHING.

Shaun Johnson: Take a fucken pay cut, or start delivering,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or else you'll be remembered as an absolute cu** of a human being by everyone in the RL community. Does that even come into these guys thinking at all?

Or do they just go for the Orrrrrrrr :sorry: feel sorry for me factor,

And then pull out the "he's a real nice guy when he's at home with the family" :) line.

Maybe we should just accept mediocrity and let the club die quickly? :dead:

PS. we were 4-8 at the midway point of this season. No relevance to this year, just saying.

I still tune in every game. I missed 3 in 22 years. Last one was in 2001. But i hate watching, and i spend most of the time texting or facebooking, rather than watching. I even missed the first 17 minutes on friday.

When I watch the games, no matter how well we are doing, im wary. I used to watch a lose and think "dont worry, we can get it back next week". Now if we win, i think, "dont worry, we will blow it next week".

I put so much of the problem squarely on our #7s shoulders. Everyone has been convinced he is our saviour. He believes it himself. He isnt. He is a crap 80 minute player. He has no fortitude and no interest in playing unless he can be the hero. That requires a last minute freak play. You cant build a team around him. We need to stop wasting our time trying. We have let go of so many players, who would have combined to create a formidable team, just to keep an egotistical git.

I think everyone has missed the key to the culture problem. Its wasnt the CEO. It wasnt the coach. Its only partially the players. Its also partially us for giving them god-complexes. But the real key to the culture problem is the owner.

The thing i hate most about all of this is that i have become an obsessive collector for my man-cave. I buy something at least once a week to add to it, sometimes 3 or 4 items in a week. I now call it my Shrine to Losers.

The problem with WCW was the lunatics were running the asylum... hmmm o_O
guaranteed money was there problem. heavily and i mean heavily inflated contracts. they just brought wrestlers in just so the WWF wouldnt have them. guys got paid even if they were on TV or house shows. WWF paid guys if they were on tv and having matches.

so essentially guys in wcw got paid even when they didnt have to work hard and put in...... dont know about you but doesnt that sound some what familiar?
