I kind of agree with the Bring Back The Biff call.

When it's just two players, the refs should just let them embarrass themselves for a while. But: Penalise the third player in, to stop it becoming a brawl.

I can't see a way of "legislating" for more "razzle-dazzle", "Warriorball":
More points for a try starting from your own 20m. Too hard to judge how and when a movement starts.
More points for a try scored within 3 tackles. Maybe easier to judge, but who wants to go to the video ref every single try to confirm it, which you can bet would happen?
More point for a try full-stop might be the best idea. But then they'd probably make penalties worth more to compensate.

Let's just be greatful no-one's over-thought the 7 tackle/20m restart rule. The only thing wrong with that is I think 20m is punishment enough, an extra tackle is excessive. But imagine if there was a rule about "the defending team only gets a 7th tackle if the kick was from within the 30m line but still restart from the 20m line", "It's only a restart from 20m if it goes over the dead-ball line" etc...

*EDIT again* They’ve actually changed the schedule for this - part 2 was supposed to be on tonight but has been pushed to June 20th, with part 3 airing July 18th. WTF!!!

Just to let everybody on here know that second part of NZ Warriors 25th Anniversary documentary is on again tonight, Sky Sport 3, 7.30pm.

When we were great we were great, when we were crap we were crap.

And has it changed a helluva lot? Maybe the team are not so much playing at those extremes either way...Possibly we're too below average rather than above average at the mo.

Obviously, the doco's not going to want to focus too hard on the crap bits. Part 1 didn't, why should the other 2 Parts?

The "takeaway" (as it's called nowawadays) for me: Monty basically admitting he said that stuff about Ali in 2004 when Ali was booted. I'd always thought that was management propaganda made with no player input: "Ali's team-mates don't want to play alongside him."

Some good stories like their trip to Bali falling through due to Anset, don't want to fly anywhere else due to 9/11. Go up to the Bay of Islands and enjoy themselves on a pretty big tab.

I know this club has provided a lot of some good times and some embarrassing moments. But looking back on NZ sport before the Warriors looks pretty tame.

That 01-02 team is still a blueprint.
When Campion talks about how he found it odd on arriving at the team that some boys got a soft ride from their team mates in training and he tried to make sure they all lifted and held each other to account - THATS WHATS MISSING now - surely?
