Manu Vatuvei capped a great year for the Warriors when he was named the club's player of the year at the annual awards dinner in Auckland.

Vatuvei missed six games during the year due to hamstring problems but was widely regarded by experts as the NRL's best winger and one of the most influential players in the game.

He scored 20 tries in 19 appearances and moved past Stacey Jones as the club's leading try scorer with 78 in 113 matches. Jones had scored 77 in 261 games.

Vatuvei was only the fourth back to win the award in the club's 16 years of existence. He follows Tea Ropati (1995), Jones (1997) and Francis Meli (2003).

Vatuvei also claimed the fan's player of the year award presented by Vodafone One Tribe.

James Maloney took the young player of the year title after playing in all but one of the club's 25 games and scoring 188 points, the second highest in the club's history.

Aaron Heremaia took the clubperson of the year award.
