The horribly titled “See” is pretty awesome.

Jason Momoa v Batista in a kind of dystopian future with GOT style “houses”. But without all the GOT plot dead ends.

Movies

Finally got around to watching Sicario and holy shit. Best crime/action flick since Heat. Benicio Del Toro is on one in that film.

As an aside The Sicario would be a wicked nickname for the next Steve Matai.

The Prestige is one of my favourite movies. I had a phase many years ago of showing it to people and impressing them. I never get tired of watching it.
Have to admit to watching it about 8 times the first week I found it. Seen it plenty since and might even play it now lol. Only found it a couple years ago...

Sicario is fucking nuts! Love it. Second one not so much but still a worthy watch. Benicio del Toro is legendary in it. Couldn't have casted a better person...

I might watch Sicario 2 again tonight.

Have you watched this? Benecio plays an entirely different character, based on a true story, a very good watch.
Great series, he seems to play a great array of characters and fits many nationalities, like our own Cliff Curtis. First I remember of Del Toro was playing a Samoan lawyer In fear and loathing in Las Vegas. Really enjoyed escape from dannemora though. Patricia Arquette plays the part well, hadn’t seen her in much for a while.

The Mexican border scene was one of the best scenes ever

See they've adopted the "Battlestar Galactica" (70's TV Version) trick of using the same shot multiple times!
Michael Bay did this with the one of the Transformers movies. Re-used a car chase scene from The Island. He just changed the cars crashing on the motorway to being crushed by Transformers. At least he was stealing off himself I guess.

The old Macgyver show used to put in shots from movies like The Italian Job instead of filming car chase scenes.

It's interesting how corners are cut or what is done to cut costs. Back when everything was kept on tape a lot of industries would re-use media to cut costs. A lot of the older Doctor Who episodes are lost forever unless someone has them taped from the original recording. Now if they were all kept they could of been centralised on sold on DVD in the 2000's or now on a streaming service for people to binge.

Been a big fan of Denis Villeneuve since Prisoners he does a great job at world building/tension and character studies can't wait too see what he does with Dune 2

I haven’t seen his older stuff.

But Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and Sicario are all exceptional movies.

Visually they’re the kind of movies that make you want to see them on the big screen. Just big epic canvasses filling up the frame.

Denis reminds me of Peter Jackson in some ways the spectacle of his films Blade Runner 2049 was one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had

Prisoners is definitely a good watch probably Hugh Jackman's best performance and Jake Gyllenhaal was great

Arrival is a solid emotional film probably my least favourite of his catalogue but good performance from Amy Adams

They keep turning up in far-flung places, from Iran to Nigeria. Still some missing though, we might have to wait for time travel to be invented so someone can go back and tape them.

Never knew about this. What an awesome mystery.

Hated Dr Who. The theme song had me running under my bed as a kid. The dalek use to scare the shit out of me. Still can't watch it now...
