Internationals TONGA RLWC 2017 Campaign

I agree with the rest of your post, but taking a league players word for anything is perilous at bet, naive at worst. League players dribble absolute shit in their sleep. Lets not forget "Looking for a new challenge" or "Following my dream" being buzzwords for "I love money"

I really doubt JT would have jumped ship if the Kiwis knew their head from their arse.

Totally agree.

Its always some bs story about process, getting better, family, giving back to the community when it always ends up being the complete opposite.

I honestly think when the microphone is on they get star struck like their fucking actors or something. Talk about values like they're stand up citizens then snorting coke, gang banging hookers, mix pills with red bull when off camera... the list is never ending.... mean while on the field... 9 fucking losses in row and the coach is still preaching about the process and making zero changes in the line up??!!!!.... fmd sorry I've gone off topic....

JT love your game bro. I'm pretty sure if the WC was in england you'd still be playing for the kiwis. Nothing better than flying business class and staying in 5 star hotels. Play for Tonga and you're in cattle class eating poor mans food. But i get it.... its all giving back.....

I'll be interested to see how Tonga goes. If they go well and Hingano and Kata have great tournaments it will hopefully flow in to the warriors season. Look forward to watching Tonga play.

So you believe Buzz Rothfield? LOL Im done with that argument. Lets just agree to disagree.

You also need to realise that if its money we talking about than Kiwis get paid match fees at the RLWC. Tongans don't...

I think this whole thing stinks. I don`t mind if a player was not selected and elects to play for his home country, but to play for the kiwis less than 6 months ago then decide to change WTF. why the hell didn`t he say back then I want to play for Tonga. To me its a slap in the face to the likes of the Sorensons, Mark Graham, Tamatis etc who bled for the jersey.
no respect for the jersey or country regardless who the coach / captain is your playing for the jersey .. bugger off

What about the Kiwis selecting Solomone Kata after he had played for Tonga only 6 months earlier? What about when they selected Suaia Matagi, Manu Ma'u, Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Tuimoala Lolohea and even Siliva Havili only 6 months after they had played for Tonga or Samoa?

You guys are all hypocritical little bitches lol. Take some of your own medicine...

Yup. NZ been doing the same thing to the islands since forever but it's only disrespectful when the Kiwis jersey comes into play eh? Lmao.

In saying that the edibility rules are a joke no doubt

Seems to be a few players missing??

Surely it should be as simple as this.. if you are Tongan and you want to play for Tonga then all good but you can't play for any other team in the future. End of story
The guys have an option at the start of their international career what team they want to play for (if they have a choice) and you stick to that choice, the negative of that is i guess that so of the guys may be more financially driven (for family or other reasons) to choose the Kiwi/Roo's team over their heritage team but the decision lies with them at the end of the day

You gots to chill lol - people getting so worked up over it...

Again just highlights the stupid as fuck eligibility rules of Rugby League... All of these grievances you guys are mentioning could be so easily avoided if we changed the eligibility rules to more closely resemble those of Rugby Union..

https://www.worldrugby.org/wr-resou.../English/pubData/source/files/Regulation8.pdf

That way once a player chooses to represent a given nation then that's that...

Would be great to see this rule (going both ways of course!) introduced some time in the future :):):)

The biggest problem I have is how they are handling this, they should have made this decision at the start of the year. If they are passionate about playing for Tonga, then good luck to them, its great for the international game. But to "snub" NZ because of a petty squabble with the coach (allegedly) just shows his lack of regard for the jersey. Furthermore, I agree about your point about Kata, I also had didn't like Fien pulling on the black jumper at th 2008 WC either.
