General Toka Likiliki To The Knights.

Link?

If true, not surprising since his brother is there. Perhaps a huge waste or perhaps Ackland knew he wouldn't make it as NRL prop and so stuck him on the wing in u20s.

Big loss if he's gone, watched him this weekend and he reminded me of Iafeta Paleasina and Hitro Okesene and I was thinking that if he is managed well he could be a real weapon for us. I'm dissapointed to hear he's going but Bennett should be able to get the best out of him.(thats if he's in the first grade squad he'll probably be training with the under 20's)

Another good young player plucked from The Warriors grasp.

I liked the look of Toka Likiliki at prop really good combination with Trent Bishop in the middle causing havoc against The Raiders yesterday.

I was bemused as the commentators were wondering why he was on the wing too, didn't let the team down but it's a strange tactic!?.

Sad to see another talented player go but that's pro footy when your a youngster you get your breaks we're the wind takes you. Wayne Bennett obviously sees some destructive capabilities in Toka's game, good luck to him.

Massive loss for us, worse than when we lost Sui, can't help thinking we may not have let this one slide if we had all our other bits in order....

Surely we cant be the only ones who saw his potential? Probably come back to bite us, like Inu! Hopefully comes back like Steve Rapira but better!

CONFUSED

We lose Toka for the likes of Sione Lousi? Sione Lousi ia another Bluey tragedy. Seems the Warriors still havent learnt anything from letting go of INU now they let go of a prop that would of done great things for the top side if given the opportunity. He looks like an old skool prop, runs like 1 yet hes not good enough for the Warriors

I'm sure he's 35 years old anyway......teams seem to be interested in the 190cm/110 kg athletic props who can play longer minutes, rather than the shorter guys who need to carry more beef to make an impact through the middle, at the expense of endurance. Clubs may also be hedging their bets when choosing which body shape may best suit the game in the coming years, with the possibility of the number of interchanges being dropped in the future.

Or maybe Newcastle just offered him a better contract than we were willing to....if he was a fast skillful winger, i'd be pissed.

We lost Likiliki but Ligi Sao one the form props for the 20's competition this year is another casualty of the Warriors 20's success. The Warriors aren't stupid there's more talent the same as Likiliki or better coming through the local scene/development program. After watching the national comp and national secondary schools we have plenty of forwards coming through all around the league nursery's NZ; funny thing is some of these kids in the backline are massive an athletic enogh to be forwards.

It's the best move for Likiliki to link up with his brother (who should of never been let go - handy centre) and get the best chance at game time at Newcastle, sad to him waste away in Vulcans.

He is too old for the under 20s - so its definately an NRL contract.
The Warriors probably would of offered him some level of contract/interest.
He isnt any better than Zane Tetevano - who hasnt played much nrl this year for newcastle..

but good on him.
He has gone to a club where is pathway is a bit more clear.
Just like Roger Sheck did - who was also offered a contract with the warriors.
But would of had to compete with Locke, Fishiahi etc.

Well simply he wasnt managed well at all - we all know how they played him on the wing etc
so if there need to be any criticsm levelled at the warriors

How could Iro or Bell seriously sign Likiliki based on his current form or ability.
too much questions marks - which could of being answered if they developed him

Can't see him playing NRL next year, the Knights will sign up Korbin Simms and Patrick Vaivai and both of them should be ahead of Toka. Simms is a machine and Patrick is faster, stronger and more skilled than Toka. With the three of them, the Knights have got some good, cheap depth though.

TBH I can't see Toka cracking first grade for another 2x or 3x seasons, to many options there. WB is not shy either to move players on, but prop has been a problem for them this yer in terms of depth.

I think Toka could get a crack at 1st grade sooner rather than later if the Knights get through there current debacle.
They lacked a bit of size the past two seasons, but have bought well in the backrow department with the inclusions of Beau Scott, our own Jeremy Smith and David Fa'alogo.Add there own stayers,Houston,Taia,McKinnon,Costigan etc,and they are pretty well stocked for 2013.
Up front theres only Big Willie,Kade Snowden and Zane Tetevano who is on the rise.So if Toka can impress early,he could get an early opportunity. With his brother there he has great support.

Good Luck Toka.

huge loss this kid was so destructive can't believe we let him go he would of been a great replacement for packer
