I think the mods do a pretty good job. They let posters away with a fair bit of crap / off topic posts. The adding of the funny button saw the verbal diarrhoea on the site increase 10 fold and normally when there is something genuinely funny the joke just get hammered to death.

I wouldn't blame the funny button. After the last 6 years I think self-deprecating humour is all most of us have left to keep us sane.

Great thread. But most of the time, my deleted/moved posts totally deserve it. Not that I've posted much recently due to RL stuff but I appreciate the work the mods put into this place, because otherwise people would post crap everywhere and wreck the forum *cough jonno cough*...

Most of them are crap anyways... I only manage 1 or 2 absolute genius posts a month (and that's only thru pure dumb luck). The rest can get binned for all I care.

the very reason that most like this site is because of the lack of garbage clogging it up, the lack of kids posting, actually having people on here who can form a sentence, posters who have informative views, well organised threads etc.

All I am suggesting is if you are not wanting that then perhaps instead of trying to change what this site is all about (IMO) then try somewhere else.

It's more like the people who go to Mt Smart to watch the footy and complaining that the toilets are a little crusty.. If you can't see the implied complement in all this then I don't know...

the problem is that you're pissing all over the floor of the toilets and even when someone cleans it up you still go and do it again. There is no complement there. Implied or otherwise.

Like you say there are loads of other choices out there, but yet here we all are.

I'd personally like to see a little less off topic moderation. Let some conversations run. It's more fun for me that way. I realize it's not always great for everyone, but it's my opinion.

Maybe add in a "jump to next on topic" function to skip sections that go rouge? Or block conversation function so that you block a post and it blocks all reply's to that post as well, essentially fast forwarding/editing out that series of posts, while leaving all the other posts untouched. Maybe use this as a another option to the block poster function, which has the problem that it still gives you the replies to that blocked poster, making it disjointed reading. Just a thought.

Love your ultra enthusiasm for deleting and moving posts, because we certainly wouldn't want to over debate a point, but would be fabulous if you were less trigger happy and gave a reason for your moves. I post here for the other posters but the one thing that gets me posting in other forums is the micro management of this forum. I'm getting the feeling that humour is certainly not appreciated amongst the mods, so if I'm not immediately banned as I suspect I promise to post thesis posts only.

I would have sent this to you in private but I have no idea who it is who loves this deletion process so much.

Just some feedback, quite certain it will be deleted in record time.

This is why I love moderators doing their job. I personally come to this fan site to talk about and reflect on rugby league, in the appropriately labelled sections.

I think some perhaps don't understand how time-poor some of us other readers are. Wading through off-topic posts about all sorts of random shit are mind-numbing sometimes and waste time that I would really rather not waste.

The moderators have it right in terms of heavily moderating the threads that everyone relies on for club information and allowing some extraneous threads for lonely blokes to post about the meaning of life. I'll sometimes read those if I have a few hours to kill...

As others have said, I also appreciate that this is a site for grown-ups without potty-mouthed kids (not that I am a prude in any way - just think there is a time and place).

The moderators do a great job, this is an exceptionally well-run forum
