That is 100% Incorrect. If you had done any research to gain this so called evidence you would know your opinion was complete and utter nonsense. Your opinion isn't based on anything other than ignorance. Sorry to sound so harsh, but uhh yeah, no other way to say it really.

Let's clear some things up.
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder.
In order for someone to be diagnosed with Bipolar type I they need to have had a Major Depressive episode AS WELL AS a manic episode. There are diagnostic criteria for each (to be discussed elsewhere).

A Dx of Bipolar type II can be made after one major depressive episode and a hypomanic episode. Hypomania is a less severe form of mania, people can become highly functional, though there are no psychotic Sx.

Cyclothymia is another mood disorder, though far less severe. It is characterised by more rapidly cycling moods, with neither the highs or lows reaching criteria for a manic or depressive episode. Thus, it doesn't really come under the Bipolar blanket, clinically anyway.

As for the meds, Bipolar is generally treated with a mood stabiliser (e.g. Lithium, Sodium Valproate), an anti-psychotic (if psychotic Sx treatment is necessary) as well as anti-depressants. We have no way of knowing what sort of regime Tim Smith is on, and hence have no way of knowing how he is affected. Thus it really is a moot point.

That is a very good post.

Toiletduck, all you`re doing is presenting an official medical classification of symptoms. Totally irrelevant and meaningless. But I don`t wanna carry on with this in this thread, I`ll PM you to discuss further.

Spoke to a mate this morning in the media. The club is looking into Pritchard. The panthers are resigned to granting him a release if a player they want to make a move on comes can come to terms with the panthers .

Important to note that we are not the only horse in the race.

That was actually for the benefit of some who may have been confused regarding mood disorders.

As far as rebuttal to your statements, I simply asked where you were getting your facts from regarding mental illness. Because by and large, most of what you said was incorrect.

You also stated you wouldn't change your opinion until you had evidence to the contrary...well there is plenty out there. Go read up on the pathogenesis of the disease, then come back and tell us it's all 'lifestyle and circumstances'.

Btw JB is there a separate thread?

That'd be huge. But like you said at the end there, his signature would be highly sought after. With SBW gone he'd be the games most elite second rower. (ball playing second rower anyway)

Pritchard would be a huge signing. However I'm not sure where we'd get the cash from...if Smith does indeed sign. Secondly, we have a surplus of back-rowers already.

Mannering, Luck, Lillyman, Fai, Matulino, Hame already there...

Has luck re-signed?

I heard his contract runs out this year, and he hasn't re-signed?? Maybe he's been given the word that the club is looking for a more ball playing second rower and he should keep his options open for the time being?

But all that is irrelevant if he has re-signed or in fact his contract does run longer than this year?

from: https://www.stuff.co.nz/sundaystartimes/4650168a6444.html

The Sunday Star-Times understands the Warriors have indicated interest in Smith, who joined Wigan only two months ago but could be released to allow the English club to chase sacked Canberra half Todd Carney. Smith's agent David Riolo didn't return calls.

Smith represents effectively the last option for the Warriors, who are otherwise prepared to go into 2009 without a halfback recruit.

That would have been something of a vote of confidence in much-criticised incumbent Grant Rovelli, if he hadn't been omitted from the full-blooded four-point defeat of Brisbane last night, which featured a tryscoring return for fullback Wade McKinnon.

The Warriors have ended negotiations with two other prospects, Wests Tiger Mathew Head and Melbourne's Liam Foran. They accept they will probably retain Rovelli and Michael Witt for 2009 after it became clear neither was attracting firm offers elsewhere.

The possible exit of Nathan Fien, offered an early release, has helped. Fien says he will decide on his future within a fortnight, with his agent Jim Banaghan looking at English Super League clubs.

So it looks like if we don't get Tim Smith, it'll be Witt or Rovelli in the 7 jumper next year.

I still think Lance deserves a crack at 6 or 7, look at what game time has done for his game and I reakon if Ivan persavered with Lance as long as he has with Rovelli we would be in good hands

However, did anyone hear in the TV Commentary...

That Mannering is being scouted by other clubs, and that the Warriors will have to put him on a good deal to retain him...

Pritchard would demand too much..

Better to sign Mannering to a long term deal

Agreed, Mannering is the key in my view. He's a future Warriors captain.

i really dont think we will sign pritchard.. but if we do il be cheering.. but then what do we do? lol we have about a thouuuusand second rowers already..
does luck get pushed out? does fai get looked at as a center for the immediate future? was surprised to see him in the centers last night for the 20's.. i think if we sign pritchard it really does make the signing of lillyman irelevant..
im starting to think maybe luck will get pushed out, especially after hearing we are in discussins with liam fulton.. anyway if we get pritchard id go with this back row

11.mannering
12.pritchard
13.lillyman

17.matulino/fai

As much as a Pritchard signing appeals, a quality number 7 should be priority number 1 in my books.

The one thing I have about Smith, is that while he is a very talented footballer, I don't know if he's the sort of person who is consistant. Pretty spectacular one moment and goes a bit off the next. To be honest, thinking about it I wouldn't sign him now. lol.

With regards to Foran, I'm guessing they couldn't garentee anything with him? Still a little raaw and still un-proven at the moment I feel.

Give Lance a go at at #7 next year With a full pre season of training in the position under his belt he'll be a star. He's shown what he can do being thrown in the deep end at fullback maybe he can do the same at # 7

Seriously though, what is your alternative?

Ravs is consistant, consistantly BAD. I'd take the on and off option anyday, at least then we get some spectacular stuff mixed in with the mediocre.

The problem with this is that I'm sure since his debut he has had a full off season training in a halves position, and it hasn't worked. His best football seems to be in a somewhat secondary attacking position, in which he augments the attacking flow, rather than creating it.
