Price has to be the player of the year. The guy is mr reliable. Without fail always makes meters each game, really put Rueben to shame at times. Price performs every week, very similar to how Koopu USED to stand up for us each week.
Webb is the only one that comes close to Price for me. Plays a fantastic support role and will be sorely missed. Having said that Mckinnon's lines and support play make him look like the type of guy who might flourish running off some good offloading 2nd rowers. Another reason I want the club to look at purchasing a ball playing forward.
For me Rovelli is far and away the young player of the year with Ah Van not far behind. Rovelli showed a good base of fundemental skills for the coaching staff to work with while Ah Van showed that with abit of further experience he will be able to slot in at Wing, Centre and Fullback. Stars of the future for sure.
Ah Van has 'Future Kiwis' written all over him.
Mannering has to be the most improved player, showed a few glimpses last year but really took it by the throat this year - week in week out. I would of expected more mistakes out of him - given his lack of experience and our past problems with defence out on that side. Mannering needs to be the rock that the back 5 is built around.
Evarn would of been close if he continued to perform like he did during the middle of the season - tended to fall away abit later in the year.
Ropati deserves an honorable mention. He was abysmal at the start of the year - bad decision making, a fear of passing and instead running the ball, poor vision on the 5th and a shotty kicking game - but really showed postive signs of improvement in the later rounds.
THats my 2 cents worth anyway.
