Tigers vs Warriors Gameday Chatter [Round 3, 2022]

Tigers2

I can't pick it.
It's one that we need to win. And one that we could win. And they're the ones that traditionally we don't win
I will have everything crossed tonight.
My bookie record is terrible so I might even put heaps on the Tigers to get us a win

this really is the acid test

10pm is a late night for me to go to be in a bad mood

as Fonzie suggested, this could be a good demonstration of current warriors coach vs potential next warriors coach

on the one hand, if we beat them and lose the rest of the season, we'll probably end up getting rid of Brown and pick up Madge (who would be available but coached a team that lost to us). If we lose to them, we'll probably get rid of Brown, and pick up Madge.

a loss drives us closer to getting rid of the coach there aren't enough good coaches around right now. Which means 3 more years under a crap new coach.

I can't take more punishment right now

please win

We need to win this to at least have a shot of winning 5 more games of the remaining 7. If we don't, then we won't stand a chance of making the finals if we don't win the next game after this.

i will say it again until I'm blue in the face.

We win 6 of our first 10 games each season and we always make the Finals. We don't win 6 we won't be in the finals.

That's true stats for you.

Friday games are great not having to wait all weekend but torture making work go so slow. Game is a 5pm start for me so only 1 hour of pre beers....might actually be sober for thr game haha.

Looking for Montoya to have a big game, he has been off so far this season and people are quick to forget and jump on him thinking Ratuva is the solution. Marcelo will come good!

The weather is absolute trash (WTF is going on in Australia), so will even the teams up. I'm worried about the kicking game of Brooks vs what we have, it will play a massive part. Big Ken making metres at the back will be big for them, we don't have the grunt to match the early hit ups. The Tigers have been thrashed this week in the media, they'll be coming hot.

I'm thinking a pretty even contest, but expecting a win. If not, hard to see where our wins will be coming this year.

We don't have the grunt?! If Lodge Addin Fonua-Blake and Curran isn't grunt I don't know what is

This Tigers team was horrendous last week. Just win the bloody game.

Don't you dare lose since it's gonna be raining all weekend in Perth, and I don't want to be glazed over staring out the window into the abyss pondering what it's like to support a team that can actually win a game of football.

Believe it or not we have made top 8 on 2 occasions with only 4 Wins in first 10 games. I think one of those times included 1 Draw, 5 Losses and 4 Wins. Can't remember the years we did this but I am sure this is the case! In saying that I do believe this is a must win because after the cowboys game (or possibly including the cowboys game as they are starting to look good) we have a sequence of 5 very tough games the weakest being Canberra.

I will have no expectations of any win... hence to avoid any disappointment and ruin a weekend... Sorry!

A few details ahead of the game tonight:
- The Warriors have won 3 straight games against the Tigers but haven’t won at Campbelltown since 2007.
- Nathan Brown holds a 3W-9L coaching record against Michael Maguire.
- The Warriors have won just 2 of their last 8 Friday night games but both those wins were up against the Tigers.
- David Nofoaluma has scored a try in each of the last 3 games between the two team and has 8 tries from 9 appearance against the Warriors when he’s played on the Wing.
- The NRL didn't credit Shaun Johnson with a 40/20 in Round 1 (instead they put it down as a Ravalawa error), if they had, last week would have been the first time the Warriors kicked a 40/20 in back to back games since 2013.

Nofoaluma looming...

Would like to see us to do some general house keeping to clean up our game tonight. Don’t really want to see us go to our edges too early, just play to our strengths by using our middles to lay the platform and create a little bit of second phase, bring Walshy in to sniff around the ruck ala Billy Slater then use him out wide when we throw some shape at the Tigers in good ball.

Reducing the level of risk we’ve been playing with to cut back on the errors and penalties we’ve conceded so far should enable us to pick up the 2 points against the Tigers and move into the Broncos with a bit of confidence that our basic game is still there and that we can still grind if we need to. We’re clearly not at a level yet where we can click instantly by throwing the ball around.
