Problem is , newspapers are where journalists work and they create the news... twitter and social media reference newspapers heaps as legit trustworthy news sources.

Normally in that situation they would make an offer to settle, and keep the lid on it.
However some think that the MAGA base is so profitable to Murdoch that if he loses the publicity will guarantee him support and even more money.
About 15% of the Merkin population are idiots. Murdoch has always made money from idiots.
He is more likely to lose them if he caves in rather than if he fights and loses.
