It's also understood that star under-20s fullback Omar Slaimankhel is being courted by another NRL club and could ask the Warriors for a release in the coming weeks.
we'd be mad to agree to that. Should up his contract and soon!

Ligi Sao will get signed up if not signed up already.
he is one of the stand out forward in the whole nyc competition.

And he would jump ahead of blokes like Sam Lousi & Sebastine Ikahifo.

He is more well rounded and hard working.
He run for 150m+ every game, nearly top the tackle count and plays massive minutes at prop.

There may be no opening for Omar now that Bill has been signed on. To be honest I would have rathered we got Omar than upgrading Bill. I'm a big fan of Omar's but were does he fit in with the squad we already have.

Ropo and Ta'ai should be let go as soon as possible and club management, Bluey, Iro and Ackland need to sit down and work out a strategy for the future. If it's not working out and he's not going to be playing first grade get rid of him and go after Dane Neilson.

Is Steve Rapira always injured or as he had a whole lot of bad luck and due for some good luck. ie a long period of not being injured. Is he could enough? If we let him go will we loose Sam's loyality? Don't know anyone got any thoughts?

If Konrad can't play 80min where did we go wrong in preseason.

We need a centre and a no frills backrower who brings some experience to the table. Other positions may be a budget prop and half. Again someone that can bring experience in and may spend a fair bit of time in the Vulcans. More than Happy for Carlos and Pita to battle for the 6 jersey but if one of them gon down and Tommy is playing the bench role we could be a litle short.

As Slaughterhouse mentioned Ligi Sau is worth a look. I don't think we should be chassing Adam Henry and I'm almost positive he signed a two year deal with the Roosters.

Interesting to hear on SportsRadio that Steve Matai is yet to re-sign with Manly and has a couple of clubs other than Manly chasing him. I'm kind of in two minds if the Warriors went for him, he'd definitely add some starch and impact to the backline, we definitely need a solid, legit centre, he'd be the backline enforcer they need … but would he be a gamble given his history of injuries and judiciary problems?

the problem i have with matai is he seems just one bad shoulder charge away from a career ending injury. hes been carrying that shoulder for years now, its just a matter of time.

edit: just a query re matai. when was the last time he repped nz? hes made himself unavailable for the last couple of tests, could he be standing down to be eligible for soo? and what is the stand down for switching countries?

Yeh, definitely riskier than a lot of other players around and you can just about guarantee at some point he's gonna spend some decent time on the side-line for some reason… But then he'd add the defensive edge that they are seriously lacking in that backline currently. I guess it depends on how they see Hurrell developing? I thought he was going to be our future 'Matai'.

He will be a much better attacking player than Matai, I'm just not sure about his defensive reads. I think we need to start playing the kid in first grade asap and give him an extended run and see how he goes, he has the talent to succeed. It sure beats persevering with someone like Ropati who looks pretty much done.....

Sign Steve Matai....two NRL premierships to his name, specialist centre who's always had a reputation for being injury prone because he clutches at his shoulder after almost every tackle he makes but I think that's a myth. Matai has gotten through most seasons without enduring serious injury, if The Warriors need a player with mongrel, experience & a respected player with great credentials then sign Matai, wtf is recruitment waiting for , more bs theories from forum posters & negative stories? sign him dummies.

Why does it seem like there is a discussion about Matai every year. If he is so good, why don't Manly sign him for longer, rather than the short contracts he seems to be getting.

In regards to his "mythical" sholder injuries, I wouldn't call them a myth. There are a few times I have seen him try to defend one handed because of his dodgy shoulder. I would be upset to see someone come to the club knowing that at any stage we could suffer from a weak defence due to a sore shoulder.

Another thing I consider is the fact that no-one seems to fulfil their potential for the club at centre. I would rate Brent Tate one of the best, but for us he was somewhat weak, as many others have been. Perhaps it is the gameplan that needs to change, not the players.

maybe its the players defending inside and outside our centres that are the problem. manus been there for a long time and hes pretty average on defence but the other wing position has never been filled long term. and our halves miss the most tackles in the comp

i remember rugby centre being the hardest position to defend because you have big forwards and outside backs coming at you at pace. on top of that you have to read the play to markup and not get outflanked. im sure its no different in league and if the people around you are struggling it'd be easy to get caught out trying to cover for them

"If he is so good , why don't Manly sign him for longer"...err hello he's been with them for 8 years or so, maybe Matai no longer fits under the salary cap for them after re-signing Foran & Cherry-Evans,hence the reason they can no longer afford him, it won't be because of his footballing ability. You really need to come up with facts as to when & where & how long he was out injured for because I think that's what you percieve but it ain't true.

All these 'Mythical' shoulder injury theories yet he's played in the last six years of finals footy with Manly & won two premierships while we had Tate & Ropati injured during most of those years ...I think Ropati is far more injury prone then Matai & we all know about Tate's history with injuries.

yeah hes got a hell of a lot of work to do there. hes been there before though, lest we forget 2009.
Yeah I hope things turn out for him.

Half time comments were the same as ever from Cleary dressing room, stick to the basics , one on one tackles, stick to the game plan.

Kinda nostalgic.

Just heard about the Michael Jennings story on monday night footy.

Apparently he was on the booze on ANZAC day and this was his last chance. Going in front of the board sometime this week and could possibly getting the boot. Anybody think we should chase him? He would add some much needed potency to our backline

Absolutely.

What will happen is that Penrith will sack him but keep his registration so no one else can get him....is that allowed??

Yeah why not, Dudes got a serious Alcohol problem, but Todd Carney is going alright at the Sharks.

Put him under the Jerome Ropati mentor-ship influence ( go to church bro ) lol

Its a tough one , depends on the individual an instant life line isn't always the best for addicts that need to hit rock bottom.

Faumuina was sacked aye Buster Seymour was ' Saved ' ....who knows
