Any halves signing is influential for a club so it's worth debating Te Maire Martin given the strength of the rumors to see where people sit.

You are probably right about the options being limited. Most of the options either are unlikely to come here or may have another downside or that magic player probably isn't available.I don't know if he's necessarily the game management half we were anticipating the club going for, maybe their options were limited in that department who knows but I don't see him bossing the side around the park that'll be left to SJ no doubt.
Word on the Panthers forum apparently is that he shagged a teammates girlfriend. That aside, I'm really struggling to understand this signing. Further confirmation that the powers that be at the Warriors have no idea?Does anyone know why Penrith are happy to let him go? Are they confident of signing Cronk or someone like Dugan for fullback and switching Moylan to 6? Or has something else gone down?
Does Te Maire Martin work alongside Cleary or opposite sides?
But that's my biggest issue as well - my best mate is a Panthers fan and has seen more of him play than I have. Reckons Te Maire Martin and Shaun Johnson are way too similar. I'm just not getting the whole recruitment strategy. Seems too opportunistic and lacking genuine strategy. My mate coached te Marie so I texted him to see what he thought and his reply was-
"Awesome pick up but same player as johnson. He'll love being home."
I replied- better than Ata?
Him- "easily"
Take from that what U will.
Here's a bit of a comparison between the the two this year- small sample size- I think Te Maire Martin has played 6 first grade games and Ata 4?
Anyway it's averages per game.

The answer is 6 Shaun Johnson 7 Mason Lino.Comes down to lack of options really. Te Maire Martin and Ata are neither here nor there. Ata has stronger defence and is a game manager, but I feel is still abit green and was afraid of Shaun Johnson's stature to overcall him early in the year. He was given the reigns in the Tonga game over the weekend and did a solid job leading them round the park. Te Maire Martin is a show and go player and is a perfect foil for a manager like Cleary. So Kearney is going against everything hes learnt Shaun Johnson needs to thrive since Forans inclusion. But Te Maire Martin upside is he can create genuine opportunities with his speed and pass selection.
I'm on the fence as to who is the better option, only due to Ata still being 19.
Can't see him going to Storm though as they have a young 7 in Brodie Croft who is on par with Ata if not better.
Not buying it. At the end of the day, Te Maire Martin doesn't have the physicality thats required to play NRL week in week out, Anthony Griffin even said it himself. Playing with Shaun Johnson is a disaster waiting to happen, we complain about Johnson's propensity to drift in and out of games and his terrible short kicking game, well Te Maire Martin echoes these same weaknesses. My mate coached te Marie so I texted him to see what he thought and his reply was-
"Awesome pick up but same player as Johnson. He'll love being home."
