Elijah Taylor has finally made it - the classy 21-year-old makes his test debut tomorrow morning.

But his arrival as a bona fide star was cemented earlier this week when a story appeared suggesting he might switch to rugby.

He joins Simon Mannering and Manu Vatuvei as Warriors recently said to be pondering a code switch.

Pretty darn good company.

A dual-code rugby star as a schoolboy, Taylor kept to the script by admitting anything was possible once his current two-year deal with the Warriors expired.

No point throwing away those bargaining chips, after all.

But don't expect Taylor to start chasing kicks for a living any time soon.

A potential captain of both the Kiwis and Warriors, Taylor's bankability is in league and that is where he'll stay.

The Warriors have been in negotiations with one of this year's breakout stars over a long-term upgrade and extension for several months.

A deal has been delayed by Taylor changing management but the parties are believed to be close and Taylor's future should be confirmed shortly after he returns from the Kiwis tour.

Less likely to be staying beyond 2012 is James Maloney.

The recruitment of Thomas Leuluai for 2013 is a clear signal the Warriors don't expect to retain Maloney long-term.

The club has been attempting to re-sign Maloney since May..

However a Roosters club that has shed Todd Carney and will be contemplating the looming retirement of Braith Anasta may also be a serious player.

I hope there is no truth to us chasing Thomas leului to replace Maloney! He will never be a consistent first grade player

He's been pretty fair for Wigan whenever I've seen them. They did win a premiership last year and contendeed strongly this year...

I would probably rather we didn't sign him, but it could be worse.

I think he played alot of that at hooker and I'm 99% sure he declared he did not want to play halfback but would rather play hooker

Didn't watch alot of Wigan this season but i'm pretty sure Tommy covered hooker and halfback for them. The Wiganites reckon they have a couple of gun young 7's busting to make the ESL side so i think Tommy maybe aware that his best position is hooker.

I'd rather have Maloney. I have a feeling mr Leuleuai is going to stuff us up.

Ack - didn't realise there were two threads discussing this.

I'd be happy to see Leuluai back at the club. I think his strength is at hooker, but he also plays at halfback, so I see no harm in having extra cover in more than one of our key positions.
