General So Lillyman has re-signed..

Warriors forward Jacob Lillyman has agreed to a one-year extension with the NRL club.

The former Queensland State of Origin second-rower said he was relieved to secure his future beyond this year.

"That's not weighing on my mind now, not that it really was but it's good I can just go out and play footy now," he told TVNZ.

Lillyman signed with the Warriors from North Queensland in 2008 but has been plagued by injury this year.

He said he wanted to repay the club for its faith in him.

"I haven't really hit my straps with this club yet and it's good I've got another year to do that," he said.

"If I had have left after this year I would've felt a bit dirty that I hadn't shown what I can do, having not played to the best of my ability.

"I've spent a lot of time on the sideline this year but I'm back now and jumping out of my skin."

He played reasonably well at prop in 2009, but it's good to see that he's acknowledging that he hasn't been playing as well as he could/should. Hopefully 2011 sees that change, but on his current form, I'm pleased we didn't sign him for more than a year.

Yeah especially as he (most likely) wouldn't have taken a pay cut. So there goes a fair chunk of the cap we thought we had left. But I'll take a year.

Mission accomplished for him - now that he's got a contract extension he can start playing shit again.

Hope to god he got a 50% pay cut at least.

I reckon it's a sign there will be no more signings his year. That fact it;s only for a year also makes me think that they'll use his money to try and resign Manu...

Yeah I think its the right thing to do, him Matulino, Lattimore and Pouching can scrap out the bench spots.

I might go next door tonight to congratulate him, maybe say hi to Moon too.

Yep, I live next door to them, that pretty much makes me the coolest person here.

When was he playing shit last though? I think he's been good ever since he moved to prop? He played well when he filled in at lock for Luck earlier in the season too...

Yes, he's been playing well, but probably not well enough. His 2010 form doesn't seem as good as his prop form was in 2009, but that's such a wild speculation with no research done that it probably belongs in another thread...

Lillyman resigning for 1 year is good....There is nothing else on the market. And Lillyman wont block the likes of Poaching,Gavet and Ioane

Yep, no problem with 1 year. I agree though that this should unlock money to throw at Manu as I don't see anymore signings now.

He is a much better prop than a second rower.

Speaking of defensive backrowers, did anyone over the Tasman hear me gasp in amazement when Mannering popped the ball through the line like yesteryear to nearly put someone in for a try? Yes, yes, I'm a bad little puddy cat, very facetious of me.

I'll admit it, I let out a little squeal.

Disagree. He's a second rower and made his name in the second row. He either players there and plays to the level that saw him play a handful of SOO or he doesn't play at all because the club has better options than Lil at prop.
