I think it is a poisoned chalice...whoever has gone on to anything brilliant after coaching the Kiwis?...Ivan Cleary must be in the frame if this tour is a disaster but I think that is looking too far ahead...Keep Stacey learning his ropes in the NRL which is a much tougher comp to coach than the occasional international

100%, partly because Im not a big Kearney fan but mostly because its a much easier team to Coach, it would be better than dropping him in it if Cappy doesn't work out.
With the support these teams have now there is no logical reason he couldn't do both Kiwis and Reserve grade.
I also really wish he had been Reserve grade Coach at another Club under a successful Coach before taking the Warriors on because he hasn't had the benefit in diversity of knowledge in regards to the NRL Coaching practices that pretty much every other NRL Coach has had, as a player or a Coach.

That's an odd thought, sack the current coach that has won 5 of the last 6 tests for being rubbish and replace him with a very gifted ex player who has never coached a big boy team, I think you missed adding the smilely face at the end.

We have a thread called Sack Kearney, there is no obvious replacement and even though Ivan has been mentioned, he has also been mentioned as the next OZ Coach.
Kearney made a decision to leave actual halves behind then replaces Taumalolo with a Hooker, thats fucked and reeks of him not learning from his mistakes.
Kearney has had the benefit of a talent pool no other Kiwi Coach has ever had, IMO he hasn't done as well as people believe and has reguarly made some out there selections/non selections particularly non selections.

Few people realistically believe Stacey is ready to be a first grade coach, so in what coloured sky world would that make Stacey the next choice national coach? Let's get the series finished before grabbing the pitchforks and torches and storming the castle. plus please explain to me how he could have improved on the last 2 seasons, a time the Kiwis have won the 4 Nations and gained the #1 ranking, should we now be ranked "#1 plus" or merely "#1 but kind to old people and puppies"? As far as I can see from your comments the only way Kearney can be right is if he picks the team you think should be picked, because up to now results say he's been pretty close to on the money.

Keep kearney. He has had some player management issues in the past and apparently has learnt from it and decided to never invite those people back. I think people forget how crap benji was for the kiwis especially after 2010. For about 2 years he was absolute shit and seemed like such a bitch that no one wanted to work with him. The foran/benji combo was crap and as a captain he was found wanting. My concern isnt that benji wasnt invited but that he chose 2 totally inexperienced players to play in the halves. Im sure an isaac john or a mason lino or even a te maire martin wouldve been better. They're still young and could be apart of the kiwis future plans especially a mason lino and martin.

Many? Not so sure that's true but I'm still here, still stand by Kearney and still believe he should coach the warriors.
Justin Morgan will be next cab of the rank at the warriors and Kearney will probably win a 2nd World Cup
What's really strange is all the folks who didn't want the warriors to go anywhere near Benji after he left the Blues.

If, as I expect, we go down 3-0, I'd be happy with an admission he fucked up not taking any halves on tour.
If he claims giving hiku halves experience was a great success it'll prove once and for all the guys an idiot and time to look at other options as coach

Kerney is setting a professionalism bench mark that players now know they have to meet otherwise, no matter who they are, they aint pulling on the Jersey and reping the country...
He had to do it after the decades of whitewash defeats against the Aussies to get the players in the right frame of mind for winning.

Yes it did and they go to Wigan with the Poms knowing who is the bitch...what surprised me was the improvement in the kicking game in the second half
