There’s very few national Ukrainian soldiers left 😬. 200k+ dead. It’s now a multi national force.

Yeah Poland seem to be itching for something to happen, though the missile landing in Poland a few months ago was diffused pretty quickly.

some say the US/NATO are looking to salvage something from losing this conflict and that Poland may be backed to create a buffer zone in western Ukraine, the part that the Germans relinquished to Russia at the fall of WW2.
Just incase of a regime change in UKR..

I have been watching various comments on this war trying to figure out the truth on the battlefront,
Many have mentioned the terrible losses the Russian are experiencing. That seems to be very true.
However It is also apparent that the human waves are way more coordinated than some in the west have been admitting. I have posted before that the Russians have been using human waves since at least WWI.
I read an article by Retired US General Barry McAffery, who is respected.
He says that if it comes down to numbers winning over anything else, the Russians have the numbers.
Some may have thought that the Russian commanders just send these kids up front, with the threat of being shot if they retreat. He says that is not quite the case.
They have a plan of attack, and the troops are well drilled in what to do. They training is not extensive, as for the western troops, because it does not need to be.
If I could compare t to Kamikaze pilots, They didn't need to be expert fliers, they just had to take off, and crash into a ship. Sure may got shot down or missed, but the numbers meant that enough got though to cause a lot of ham to the US Navy.
The Russians troops are sent forward to a specific plan, with heavy loses expected, but enough survive to actually threaten the Ukrainian positions.
They combine that with well aimed artillery barrages. He actually said they are more likely to run out of shells, than troops, but they are in danger of doing that.
He says it looks as though the Russians are planning a major offensive, using human waves, and he sees danger.
It also seems they have a well organized terror system for their troops. Executions are common, just to send the message.
So the troops figure they would rather take their chance on attack, than a face a firing squad.
There are reports also of many Russian troops mutinying.
That maybe so, but my guess is the Russian commanders are good at identifying ring leaders, so they get shot sooner rather than later.
That is why the Ukrainians are begging for more thanks.
They need to kill more Russians with firepower.
I had a history teacher who had been an English military officer. He told us that during WWI the Germans on the eastern front were melting their machine guns shooting the Russian human waves.
Scary shite, and crazy, but they have done it before.

Absolute rubbish from what I have read. Russian losses are a fraction of Ukrainian losses since their ill conceived tatics early on. They will give up terriitory rather than suffer losses. Zelensky on the other hand seems to refuse to retreat losing troops for minimal gain.
The retired General you quote may be respected but it seems to me he is giving the Hollywoos version of current Russian military doctrine in accordance with current western media narrative.

Seems to me both sides have suffered significant losses. Western estimates puts Russian casualties at 200k recently and Ukraine likely well over 100k now.
It seems Russia is gearing for something big, next few months will be crucial to outcome.

I think the whole was will just slowly fizzle out as both sides are finding the effort is not justifying the reward and then we will arrive at a stalemate.

I do not have exact figures but I do think that Russian losses are exaggerated to support a narrative. Same as the untrained, unarmed, unclothed barefoot badly lead narratives we have seen previously.
I agree about something big, I do think it will not be lightning strikes, rather a thorough grinding offensive over multiple fronts.

And how do you know that? It is because Ukraine is telling the west Russia are mobilizing 500,000 soldiers, which is BS because Russia stated they only gathered 350,000. Guess that means those WW1 & 2 human waves that bruce bangs on about will be a little smaller..
From multiple analysts as well as Ukraine and Russia saying the same thing?
Also how do you know Russia didn't understate the number they mobilized? Have you seen the records of all of their mobilized forces and current troop information?

Opinions on this thread seem to be mostly taking whichever media supports the victor people want to believe is in the right and amplifying that. Most people on here are reasonable in their views but they are often very different so it's an interesting look at how we can find anything to support our bias now and how difficult it is to know what the real truth is.

I have a total of exactly zero solid knowledge. Hence why I keep questioning things.
Those number are inline from what I’m hearing except switched. But it doesn’t matter really. Too many dead civilians.

I think it was foolhardy just to think the Russians had no plan at all. Modern urban warfare has a horrific casualty rate.

Their plan was to be in Kiev in 3 days, no plan B, all the rest has been made up as they go along except human waves and mass bombardment. That came from history books.
I am only guessing, but apparently the Ukrainians have been training in both Leopard and Abrams tanks already, so that when the arrive they should be ready to go.
