If one positive could come out of this it should be us refusing this stitch up moving forward. No reason for us to have to play the storm in melbourne late at night every anzac it's absolutely ridiculous.

I think Bellamy uses the occasion as a mental test for his players. Challenges the team to not let the occasion overwhelm them. Preparation for finals.

The turning point if there was one, as the whole thing was a cluster fuck,1st ten minutes was Ed Kosi stone cold dropping a simple pass and the storm getting a try instead.
I remember yelling at the TV, what is the point, why did we even turn up to the match if we are going to make mistakes like that.
Then Kosi dropped his lip.
On the grubber try in his defensive corner, he couldn't be arsed bending down low enough to touch the ball with his hands so made a half hearted attempt and kicked the ball instead.
Wizard's rage counted 4 tries he was involved in - I counted 6. And my count was conservative.

I am glad Brown dropped him. The team needed a focal point for the loss to allow them to move on.

As soon as he didnt look up and see papenhyusen had picked the ball up I knew he was done. He had his head down, thats the issue, he was so selfish to only think of his mistake instead of diving on the ball to kill the play.

You could feel Kosis fear and anxiety through the screen. How did he work himself up into that state? The storm weren't doing anything out of the norm really, I feel he was freaked out pre game and it manifested itself on the field. These are the mental lapses that prove costly when one individual is completely gone and it snowballs onto the other players. I have no answer for how this happens.

I don't think any club can recover from 70 points to 10 and make the playoffs.
Seasons are about momentum. It is critical that you are never blown out.
I remember in a cricket match we were once blown out for 29 runs.
In the next match our star batsman was so scarred that he just wanted to stay in and scored 7 off 24 overs off batting and we limped to 120 and lost.

I can see us losing respectably to the raiders next week by 8 points and the Warriors regarding that as a success.

I'll kindly disagree here, anything can be a turning point, look at souths was it that lost by 50 to the panthers, made the final. I'm just saying it can go both ways, it could also go the way you mention. This is a pivotal moment for a coach and leadership, it can galvanise a team if done with the right approach, some stakes have to be put in the ground, some solid commitments to never allow yourself to reach a certain stage again. That could be one is never quitting on my teammates etc. Im hoping browny gets it right. Big questions need to be asked of the leadership group if there is any? I have no idea who the actual leaders of this team are but some accountability needs to be had moving forward, yes players and coaches are responsible but who is the man or men in that team that will say "it happened on my watch and it will never happen again on my watch".

Stats say you are right. No club has ever recovered from that type of hiding and it is extremely unlikely we will.

If it ever does happen though, it will be the Warriors. They are weird like that.

Under Cleary we made a GF when we were a shit team that should never have been there.

You just don't know with these clowns.

They are a confidence side so If Brown can tap into that....the seasons never dead...until it is....which is why most of us are still here.

We did come back to win 3 on the trot after south put 60 on us last year...

Not too sure he was scared. I would definitely say he was overawed by the occasion and also the Dallin Watene-Zelezniak accident. That he couldn't get his head back on his shoulders is also a reflection of his captain and team mates, especially those who had done this gig before.

Nothing new, we've seen it all before in these Anzac matches. The only critical factor year after year is how many points the storm will beat us by.

Not an excuse but the odds are certainly not in our favour nor are they close to even. If they want to keep this clash between the two clubs, it should be on a home and away basis.

While the Storm loss was disappointing, it usually happens (not by such a big margin) in the ANZAC day game. It is still early enough in the season to be able to recover from it I think. How they respond in this weeks game will be interesting.

Yeah it was always gonna be a tough ask and we went into it a bit under strength, didn’t have much luck in the first half, then copped some horrible injuries- it was a perfect storm (pardon the pun).
I wouldn’t write off our chances of making the finals yet but the damage our for and against took could come back to haunt us.
Really important game this week and I’m sure they’re aware of it.

Yes, overawed would probably be a good description. The Anzac match at Aami is about as close to a grand final occasion as what a few of those newbies will have encountered. Aami park is a great stadium for rl, you feel like you're on top of the field almost, the higher you go, and players can feel the closeness of the spectators. Packed out would be overawing alright for some who have been playing with no or little spectators for the better part of 2 seasons.
Not an excuse but can understand it could get to some. The ceremony & everything would add to it.
Good thing is the next time you would be better prepared?
