They discussed this on the Fox post-mach, I think it was Cronk who explained the key to the Storm's success is simple - repetition. They practice moves until they can do them blindfolded, and after the 1000th rep when they feel like they've got it down Bellamy says they haven't even started yet.

Then he gives them all simple individual pre-game instructions and all they have to do is focus on their own game because everyone knows their job, the halves don't worry about what NAS and Bromwich are doing and vice versa. Once they've got the basic patterns ingrained like clockwork they're free to play heads up and take chances in broken play.

Apparently that's all it is, and that's why the coach goes off like a psycho if they fuck up something they've practiced ten thousand times all week. On Monday the offending players will be there repeating that move until midnight.

I suppose that's what mooks was trying to do here but he was starting from such a low base it wasn't funny, dunno if he had the cattle who wanted to work that hard either. Sounds simple, but that's what Cronk reckons their success is down to. Two sets of books can't hurt either though.

By that definition would you be surprised if Mooks isn't the next storm coach?

Bellyache rates him but I'd still be surprised if he is haha. What's his role there atm, defence coach?

They're probably all in the Rooster and Storm junior systems.
Or super League cause thats where they end up finally. I would say 15 % manage to crack it NRL . The rest of the so called stars and superstars kiwis do a not bad job in england but no way way good enough for NRL.

Maybe I m bias well yes I am but I thought I saw five or six forward passes by the Storm in the 2nd half nothing seen by the officials.
I've never seen a dummy half who throws as many forward passes as harry grant- don't know how he gets away with it.
I wont be surprised if some time this year right before a big game the opposition coach makes a big deal about it.
probably Cleary or filter...

Not putting myself through 11 pages of reading this haha.

I said in the lead up to this game watch Kosi and Pompey get exposed by the Storm. Obviously our issues were deeper than that but this is where this don't change a winning team idea is stupid.
u realize we lost last week too?

Big big problem I have with Nathan Brown is that he looks like a passenger when things are going wrong. Look at other coaches and staff yelling into mics, sending messages down, stratagising, being pro active in stopping the bleed or reading the plays. Brown looks completely reactive or completely shocked.

Look at last night, everytime the camera cut to him he didn't even have his headset on. How the fuck are the players suppose to get messages or change tact. It wouldn't have changed the result but it does show that Brown is only good when things are going well.
Im not saying he's taking this approach but he potentially could be taking a hands off approach, letting the guys figure it out, you would want to do that with a more experienced squad. I agree I thought he didnt make enough adjustments and that he should have been sending a message especially when things were going pear shaped. In saying that you want the players to own their performances and make decisions based on what they have already been told. Not sure what the answer is but just another idea.

My youngest son just caught up with the NRL results for the weekend.

You know how I know?

Because he just messaged the old man from where he is based right now:

"This is our year".

I curse the day I introduced that boy to the Warriors and I accept full responsibility for his therapy....

If one positive could come out of this it should be us refusing this stitch up moving forward. No reason for us to have to play the storm in melbourne late at night every anzac it's absolutely ridiculous. You think an aussie super rugby team would be coming over for a game against the crusaders in chch every single year? The NRL won't accept it being in NZ so at the least we should rotate a few teams, bulldogs please.

I introduced my son to support Leeds United 30 plus years ago. There have been many times he has threatened to lay a complaint of child abuse he-he

The turning point if there was one, as the whole thing was a cluster fuck,1st ten minutes was Ed Kosi stone cold dropping a simple pass and the storm getting a try instead.
I remember yelling at the TV, what is the point, why did we even turn up to the match if we are going to make mistakes like that.
Then Kosi dropped his lip.
On the grubber try in his defensive corner, he couldn't be arsed bending down low enough to touch the ball with his hands so made a half hearted attempt and kicked the ball instead.
Wizard's rage counted 4 tries he was involved in - I counted 6. And my count was conservative.

I am glad Brown dropped him. The team needed a focal point for the loss to allow them to move on.

I don't think any club can recover from 70 points to 10 and make the playoffs.
Seasons are about momentum. It is critical that you are never blown out.
I remember in a cricket match we were once blown out for 29 runs.
In the next match our star batsman was so scarred that he just wanted to stay in and scored 7 off 24 overs off batting and we limped to 120 and lost.

I can see us losing respectably to the raiders next week by 8 points and the Warriors regarding that as a success.

Stats say you are right. No club has ever recovered from that type of hiding and it is extremely unlikely we will.

If it ever does happen though, it will be the Warriors. They are weird like that.

Under Cleary we made a GF when we were a shit team that should never have been there.

You just don't know with these clowns.

They are a confidence side so If Brown can tap into that....the seasons never dead...until it is....which is why most of us are still here.

Even when it is dead, there's still next year!
