I rate his player rating a 3 out of 10. Was pretty shit imo. For example walshs rating is incredibly harsh. He had the bad kick off error but what else did he do to deserve 1?
It was an indefensible error that was the game turning point
He needs to do the basics basically and the game turning moments expertly
He tried to excel at a what should have been a basic moment of the game
We never got back into the match after that

Last night the dogs were in the match until
Marshall kings send off and they were never able to recover from that turning point

A year ago we were winning a match. Can’t remember the opponents. And then jazz did a very late and needless hit. While in the sinbin they scored three times and we never recovered

The match tonight ends much closer or even a warriors win if Reece doesn’t kick that ball out on the full
It may have been one mistake. But it was the game defining moment. Hence 1 out of ten

Pompey has hit the point where even when he plays well he still cops it. I’d hate to see the reaction when he really plays badly.

But as for today..

In a game where our biggest issue was getting out of our own end, I’d probably look elsewhere than the guy constantly putting his hand up for a carry as the problem.

As noted, same guy who did more than his share of the mahi to hold the games best centre to a pretty quiet game.
Ill just leave this here for those who were unnecessarily bagging pompey...

You cant be serious. You are blaming the loss on 1 penalty off a kick off and rating him a 1 which is neglecting the good things he did.

Thats like me saying if the ensuing penalty of egan slowing down the the ptb which handed the roosters 2 points is the reason the roosters went on to score 16 second half points to the warriors 6. Why didnt egan get a 1, that penalty was actually stupid?

See why i dont agree with you ratings.

I sort of like how Brown didn't blame the ref. We have a lot of growth left in this squad, and if we take the focus off our performance, it leads to some excuse making. There were 3-4 shockers in a row which killed a comeback, but we had really let the Roosters get on top of us in that second half.

The Roosters shut down our middles with quick line speed, and put a lot of pressure on Shaun Johnson and Walsh. I think we didn't have the forward punch, passing or second phase to counter. Cows did the same last week, and we have to sort out ways to negate the tactic. Definitely missed Lodge and Tevaga in the middle.

Yeah i agree with it as well, as a leader theres no excuses. You take the loss, look at your own performance as that is the only thing you can control and you move on. Great leadership shown there. I bet internally hes fuming though.

That was a limp performance in the final 7 odd mins. Our defence was generally really good. Attack is building but needs a lot more work. Kodi should not be seen in first grade again. It's a waste of a spot in desperate hope that he will come good. It's not going to happen. His service from DH was sloppy. Really missed Egan when he was off.

We desperately need Lodge back.
Was going to have a moan about Kodi but you beat me to it. I remember 1 semi decent run from him. Apart from giving Egan a breather he does absolutely nothing. See no real upside in him.

I have had this theoretical conversation in private before with one of my forum friends on this site but will share now in the thread that I believe in reductionism

In some academic cases circumstances are so complex that you can’t blame an outcome on on one reason and you always have to concur the outcome was due to multiple reasons.

In train accidents and workplace accidents multi factor reasons are always used as they don’t pin a tragedy on one person or one factor.
This is the correct approach as there probably were 5 or 6 reasons and real life accidents are complex.

In issues not involving life and death and where a learnings from a defeat are imperative to future long term success then hanging one person out to dry for a loss or failed project creates better actionability in the build up to the next project or next game the team plays.

It is easier and manageable to focus on fixing one or two things after a loss rather than ten learning points.

My blaming the entire loss on Walsh’s kick off is in keeping with my boarder views as a sports arm chair analyst and a analyst in the business world.

In my view and in Shaun Johnson’s that kick was the turning point because I was looking for a turning point

If I had to have a second reason would blame Aaron pene and bunty for both not running over 100 metres in a game where we had bad go forward in the middle

If you don’t believe or agree with my reductionism theory of if it doesn’t hold them Walsh deserved an 8 as overall he was good if you can get past his error

Sticky would have blown a gasket lol.

Our defense and linespeed needs to keep improving, was pretty good this game, but our errors and penalties still need major improvement. Bad passes are going to happen, we need to be top notch when fatigued at catching bad passes etc, something that I hope we practise still (but appears not).

Im pretty happy with how they went, quite easily arguable they won the game with refs with better eye sight (not sure how you improve a video ref lol).

I had no doubt we could win pre match and expressed it and I feel the same vs the Storm, its just another challenge with different defensive strategies for some players, but overall, linespeed, defense, low errors/penalties and we will be in that game too, shut down Papa and Munster.

We have to start beating top 6 teams at some stage if we wanna make the 8, so may as well pick a top 4 team and aim up, train hard, defense is the key to every side we have natural offensive talent so definitely practise drills but focus heavily on line speed and defense and we should come out very close once again.

We need to figure out who is defusing the bombs and we need to practise our butts off because the Storm will be onto that already.

I agree re Pompey, my only issue with him was not trusting Kosi enough, he did hold onto a try with Kosi unmarked. But he had a good game in other aspects. I think all in all, our defense on the edges was good.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak maybe a bit underdone with that bad thumb and high ball takes .. he will improve next week.

We’ve won Pene’s minutes in all three loses this year off the bench or starting.

I’d be more worried about the guys on the field when the scores going the other way.

As for Pompey, he’s no world better. But he’s outplayed Arthars the last two weeks and Arthars pre-Warriors career is hardly much more impressive.

I’d still rank Jesse ahead of him but he has massive work-ons as well, you talk about impact in contact, Arthars is a liability in the grind at this point in his career, and the grind is where the games are won and lost against good teams.
Yeah I was harsh on Pompey, he did play well i'd just like to see a strike centre there. He's solid enough at the fundamentals just doesn't have that x factor.

Fuckin hell lads I'm lying awake in bed unable to sleep because I'm still too pissed off about the fucking robbery I witnessed today. I'm so over the constant crooked decisions this club cops, today was so blatant that it was comical at times. It's time like this that supporting this club feels absolutely futile, as we will never be playing on an even playing field.

I feel for the boys because they dug in today and had their efforts shat on by the officials who didn't want to ruin the Roosters' 20 year anniversary party.

I know we say the way to get the rub of the green is to improve and play better, but that's hard when you're already at a disadvantage with crooked officiating going against you. I just wonder if it will ever change. Sorry for the ramble but something just snapped in my head after this loss.

I like that theory and understand where you are coming from with. Theres always multiple factors deciding any outcome but sometimes the end result can be traced back to one instance that caused another, that caused anotherand so on, sort of like a cascade effect. Example being the egan penalty in front of the posts would not have happened had walsh not kicked out on the full.

I like the theory but feel its too hard to say forsure that the warriors would have gone on to win or the game would have been closer had that one kickoff not gone out on the full so i dont agree with your rating based on that alone.

Watched the prime FTA replay, complete with ad breaks and editing out the time taken for goal kicks, old school. Had the result spoiled, stupid automated news feed - but meant could watch it with less emotion.

First half good, lacked a bit in the middle in attack, but not too bad, moved it around to compensate. Good D. Walsh needs to touch the ball more.

Second half.... Waiting for how we going to lose, waiting, waiting, d is fine, roosters aren't too hot, no try, bunker doesn't even check, usual from those criminals. Dropped a kick and that's it?

In the end have to do better than one try while the game is in the balance whether they need to put in some more speculator kicks, or run it on the last, the edge to edge stuff off slow play the balls look nice, but can be covered up. Tried some random shit and they score.

Sure it's been said a million times, but they ruined a nice jersey with white shorts and just have a forward, any forward, literally does not matter who, instead of Kodi on the bench - Johnson starting to look old a bit on a hot afternoon too.

2022 warriors look a tidy side, Walsh is kicking all the goals, Johnson is bombing the corners, D has gotten better, they just lack a bit of physical dominance or athleticism, not enough powaaa out there.

Can hear the chains clanking off the bunker officials everytime they choose a camera angle, filthy dogs.

Watched the game on late tonight. Good effort from the team, so silly mistakes, but massive effort.

How important was the bunker decision and not to award Arthur's the try...9 of 10 those tries are awarded. This would have changed the game for sure.

Sorely missed Jazz and also Lodge..

But this is a top 8 squad.
