Curran is listed 18 - so he must be on stand by to come into the side for Harris.

I wonder if they have stood down Te Maire Martin and Barnett 50% because they aren't quite right and 50% because it is the Sharks and we figure we are long shot to win and they want some fresh troops for the following week's must win game against the Knights.
Nah Don't think that would be anything Webby would be even considering

It would be nice to get a fan/member's report on injuries from the club. I thought Barnett was sweet a couple of days after his neck complaint. He is such a big out too, and I think he is the kind of player we can't do without against the Sharks forward pack.

Due to the nature of Metcalf's injury I'd imagine that it is hard to determine his status, but it would be nice to get a generalised update on how he is tracking.
Here is the latest on Metcalf in an article dated March 22

"As for other players on the sidelines, the Warriors are taking a cautious approach with the neck injury Mitch Barnett picked up last weekend, Luke Metcalf will be out for another four or five weeks with his hamstring injury, but Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is a chance to play next weekend against the Sharks in Sydney following his calf problem."

Something like this would be nice,

Not 100% certain by any means but i'd suggest this means we're doing most our ball playing before the line with multiple option support runners.......given we're leading the linebreak stakes seems to be working a treat.

Yup that's roughly the conclusion I came to. Bodies in constant motion to give our playmakers options and then it's up to them to play eyes up footy and take the best option.

NRL.com has Te Maire Martin, Barnett and DQZ listed as returning in round 6.

Not that it means all that much. If one of them is missing next week it'll magically change to round 7. Just pointing out that right now they seem to be considered week to week propositions.

Williame's calf though still says TBC, not sure what's going on there.

This is actually a good sign. For so long the warriors haven't had enough support runners. Meaning we got dominated in the ruck.

Noone in the top 50 for supports is ok, because with 7 in the top 50 for decoys, it just means they're not using the option runners right now. Decoy runners means there is more space out wide.

Tohu Harris is 50/50 this week.

Some other stats after 4 rounds.

Warriors completion rate 83% (1st in NRL)
Line breaks 25 (1st)
Line break assists 20 (1st)
Most runs 755 (3rd)
Kick return metres 746 (3rd)

Good stats to start the season.
I think these decoy lines are the key to webby's plan and our success so far, it requires superior fitness and keeps the opposition forwards constantly moving chasing shadows, they all look gassed against us in the last 20.

I expect our attack to open up when everyone instinctively knows the patterns and we start passing to our decoy options, I like to think that's phase two of the Webolution.

Wrighty's been pretty onto it so far with his projections of how long it will take our new systems to gel, be interesting to see if Volkman fits in seamlessly or looks like he's on another page.

Definitely a concern with both Te Maire Martin and Barney with the nature of their injuries and their respective histories.
Geez metcalfs hamstring injury must’ve been major- what a shame for him.
Relieved to see Tohu Harris named but would still be a surprise to see him play.
Tough Game for sure- if we win this one I’m booking the farkin limousine!
We are going to be without the luxury of being able to choose Harris, Te Maire Martin, Barnett, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Metcalf who would have covered Te Maire Martin.

Still our team is not shit and the 2nd half surrender by the Dragons last weekend made the Sharks look better than they are.

When Volkman played in the trial v Melbourne I think he was still recovering from injury.
He will be relishing this opportunity.
I think it will be a good match up.
The TAB odds might be tempting.

Just watching the Sharks highlights and our wingers are going to have to stay focused on the sidelines.
Especially with Mulitalio. Fox proved that last week. Thankfully only once which was a bonus

That is a very strong looking Sharks side. It's going to be a great game.
We've had some good tests the last few weeks.

Cowboys in Townsville a tough road trip, a side not playing as well as they were last year. Bulldogs a side also improving like we are.

Sharks are looking to be a step up again. Especially now Hynes is back. Our defence out wide is going to be tested if they can give their wingers space.

Going to be another tough road trip.

Always been a hard thing to beat the Sharks at home.
True mate our wingers have to stay on the sidelines

I just rewatched the reserve grade game from the weekend, Ronald Volkman has an elite boot on him. The drop out that found touch, the 40/20 and a variety of different styles of bomb were all very intentional and something I haven't seen in a Warriors jersey since Stacy Jones. I hope to see more of that from him this weekend. It will be interesting to see if Webby can come up with a game plan to utilize his skill set, perhaps catching the Sharkies off guard by having him be the primary kicking option this week.

As for Te Maire Martin, I recall a media piece in the preseason (maybe the show he was on with Piri Wepu) where he said that the risk of serious injury from a head knock was no greater for him now than it is for anyone else, and that the brain bleed he had is not related to or caused by a head knock. Fingers crossed the doctors who gave him that info know what they're talking about!

Bring on the Sharks!

Hey Riz
This is a fabulous post.
In the reserve game Johnson did all the kicking, hopefully Ronald gets into that department this weekend.
Wish it was a saturday game...
