Katoa playing in the middle was interesting. I thought he and Otukolo stood out and showed the most. PPR and Garret Smith tried hard but just don’t seem to have that leg speed or strength required to play first grade. I thought Adam Cook had a day to forget at halfback
Yeah totally, Eli and Otukolo really sparked them when they entered the game, Otukolo‘s sharp passing allowed more ball to get to their edges which was noticeable.

Who is that?

Well we have Kodi, Im confident Otukolo can play 80m, hes hardly an enforcer forward hehe. Either way, if not, just play as we hve been Otukolo 60mins and Kodi 60mins. But I suspect it will be Egan 60mins Otukolo 20mins.

Too many teams this year afraid to play their superior RG players, its everywhere.

My impressions are that Otukolo hs the speed we desire from fast PTB in clearing the ruck either running or passing. ????

He's probably next in line after Otukolo.

We chose this guy over that Stanley Iongi that the media couldn't believe we let go.

Nathan Brown on the performance talking to 4BC:
1. Didnt answer the question, which is what Im asking, is how we are going to get back to 80 mins fitness focus and defense. He just talked a bunch of jibberish about players coming in and out. If hes actually doing NOTHING, he really shouldnt be head coach. I think Brown is a talker, not doer, reminds me of a Gus Gould or a G Lowe. Expects his words will change the team.

I wish we didnt have to lose for 3/4 of a year to lose Brown.

But this team offensively is so highly talented and has more talent to come next year that maybe they dont need a Bellamy or an SK, maybe just need a coach who spends 10 mins with them telling them what to do before he pops off on his yacht for the week.

Either way, we are 50/50 to beat the roosters imo. But we need to start winning with our Defense, stop gifting 18 points. 18:6 week in week out would do me just fine and would have us top 4 with real potential to win a Prem.

Oh man he better be AMAZING to have us let go of Stanley.

Always hard to tell by these kinds of videos. I saw some good dummy half runs. He was playing other positions clearly as well. How big is he?

I think the Warriors need pace now, one area we need it BAD is on the wing. But have hollistic pace in a team, wins.

Im not keen on seeing Berry return, his side was soft as when he played. But he doesnt offer the pace im after anyway. Almost need to put a FB or Half on the wing kind of pace, so when they get the cut out ball they just burn through the gap down the sideline to score uncontested.

Still a fan of Lachie Miller, but I think by sounds he mighta got signed, have got any source to that, just something I think I read. Dang I wish we could sign some 7s players like him (the ones that are like Walsh on Offense (perhaps better) but can tackle too)

So if our books are full for 9s, we stop looking? IMO we trial by fire. Want a top 4 spine, trial, next man in, trial, next man in etc.. Stop being afraid to play supposed great youth, is all clubs at the mo. MEtcalf and Drinkwatr are just 2 examples.

Nathan Brown on the performance talking to 4BC:
Really Enjoyed that after listening to Flannos commentary of the game and now his chat to Brownie.

Our defensive structure is much better.

Every player appears to really care.

Shaun Johnson makes everyone better.
Then the question is, why are we leaking 3 soft tries?

Its fact, we have to be 50/50 offense/defense.

We were really soft up the middle the first half.

So if everyone wants to defend, it is both technique and strategy that we simply do not have. Whose job is it to teach our players flexible defensive Techniques? Does Brown just wipe his hands and leave it up to Morgs? Is Morgs honestly good enough to coach modern D technique?

So first half we needed to strengthen our middle, but as the game went on and CBs got tired, they started looking more expensive, in which we needed a traditional sliding technque.

But does anybody in the Warrior coach camp have the skills to teach that? And do they realise it is the Coaches role to instruct defensive technique?

To me it looks like we have the skill but we have no specialists telling us how and how to modify or morph defensive technique based on style of offense, ie going from hitting it up the middle with quick PTBs to using the backline more trying to stretch metre gains wide.

My opinion is the players show the wanting to learn, which 90% of the battle, we have good defenders generally speaking if you stamp out the silly erriors like the Curran/Walsh Dearden miss. So for me, our offense seems already capable of competing, our defense has no chance, so this is obviouslly what we should be focussing on.

IMO Ben Murdoch-Masila hasnt lived up to it, much like Lodge, Katoa far too many basic mistakes, Jazz is out for being a plonka like old days, Harris is really the only forward Im looking forward to getting back due to his footwork and offload ability (although its not like when he was at the storm).

What it shows is we have some depth. But we do have a discipline problem in the forwards that could cost us many games. Have to keep an 85% completion rate.

All there is, is hope. Im not confident Brown is more than a figure head. But if he is, I hope he gets the big guys making decisions and doing the fine motor skill low to the ground catched under extreme fatigue. Need that part of SK coaching back again.

Payten's C-Men let me down. The Warriors winning 3 in a row, no way. That's why I picked them to beat the Warriors in the Knockout Comp.

When was the last time they did that? Makes me think they might make the finals this year.

I've been critical of Egan in the past, am still keen for the club keep an eye out for an upgrade, but he's really improved in the last 12 or so matches he's played. A really odd stat that I've come across is that we've scored 5 tries in the 83 minutes he's been rested this year compared to 10 tries in his 317 minutes on the park. Defensively we conceded just 2 tries when he's been off the park too. He's clearly a better #9 than Nikorima or Tevaga so I'm not trying to pin anything on him but these figures do go against the commonly held belief that he tightens up our D & greatly increases our attacking potency. Maybe it's just that him going off coincides with us gaining ascendency in the forwards.
Just remember these are just stats whanau so don't shoot the messenger 🤣
There's no control group with this analysis and hence this analysis is non valid and impossible to read anything meaningful into. However thanks for putting it together nonetheless as was interesting to read.

Aitken is 80 minutes of top quality and abrasive league. The casual observer will have missed his impact.

Ed Kosi always had more natural ability than most NRL wingers. He is now a clever and more aware player. He has a higher ceiling.
Ed Kosi reminds me of Francis Meli. Big, Strong and fast! Can put a shot on too! Though he’s not the complete package he is doing the job.

Easily the most enjoyable win / game I have watched the Warriors play this season. One thing I have liked about the Warriors this season is that when they are down they are not out. I think in several of the games they have played we have been behind by 12 points and still made a contest of it. In past years when we get behind we end up losing by big margins. However, I think we miss Jazz for his line speed on defense and clearly when Harris comes back we will be better at slowing down the ruck speed of the opposition. This week I would opt for Berry at center as it is going to be a huge task to stop Manu setting up tries or scoring.

We are all back on the roller coaster ride, and injuries so far this year are not impacting on us as much as last year.

There are still a few mistakes at critical times, and refereeing decisions that baffle us and team selections seem to be more consistent with form and who is available.

Let's be honest the game against the Cowboys could have gone either way, but Shaun Johnson saved the day. The game is won and lost on small margins and the next couple of weeks will be a reality check one way or the other. Because there is grit rather than polish with the team and its wins there is potential to improve. Even Brown looks like there is a load off his shoulders and hopefully that translates to a better performance on the field.

It would not surprise me if we make it 4 in a row, but we have to play our best game this season
