18-4 down at halftime for the Dolphins. Berry playing very well, able to get the right arm free and looks to have a lot of pace in a more open game. Ratuva has gone looking for work.

The Dolphins forwards have been woeful. Lachlan Timm and Dunamis Lui leaving massive holes constantly. The Warriors contingent of Katoa, PPR and Otukolo are now on so will be interesting to see if they make a significant difference.

D.Mariner looks good for Wynnum
Is Mariner up against Berry or Vailea?

Brilliant take from ratuva off a short kick off- katoa crashes over soon after.
All looks too little too late.
36-14 manly

I've been critical of Egan in the past, am still keen for the club keep an eye out for an upgrade, but he's really improved in the last 12 or so matches he's played. A really odd stat that I've come across is that we've scored 5 tries in the 83 minutes he's been rested this year compared to 10 tries in his 317 minutes on the park. Defensively we conceded just 2 tries when he's been off the park too. He's clearly a better #9 than Nikorima or Tevaga so I'm not trying to pin anything on him but these figures do go against the commonly held belief that he tightens up our D & greatly increases our attacking potency. Maybe it's just that him going off coincides with us gaining ascendency in the forwards.
Just remember these are just stats whanau so don't shoot the messenger 🤣

Cant seem to comment on the roosters teams thread, so I will say it here.

If there Warriors can inject defense within a weeks training, there is nothing the Roosters are throwing that worries me.

But there is big step up to #4 in the sharks which is a 2:1 For and Agaist. The Warriors need to stop letting in so many SOFT tries.

The one Dearden got, Curran was soft and Walsh was out of position, both had a crack but were off weight to produce a tackle. We gave them 3 tries minimum. 18 points. We are GIFTING other teams 18 points.

Nobody wins a premiership on offense, we have offense, it doesnt need any more work. We need a shortened version of SK back to replace Brown and Morgan temporarily. But I think jokes aside, Toovey would make a great defensive coach, he was the strongest player per pound of all time imo and a damn good 5/8th defender.

IF we stop GIVING 18 points away each round. We will win more like 20:06 every round leaving us with the defense required to challenge he top 4.

It is that simple.

Thats telling man. Dont ever apologise for being honest. Even though hes improved, Im with you, hes not top 8 and MILES away from top 4. So we have to keep looking for somebody who offers Kodis speed after a fast PTB and run at the offside defense, linking with Walsh etc or worst case 6 again. OR getting the ball to the play like a laser beam.

We got our PTBs down to 3.3s that game, it looked the best in the final 20 when Kodi game on and was doing as I say, running at a line that still has players withdrawing, or feeding forwards to keep steam rolling the opposition. 3.3s or faster PTB + ultra quick 9 = win, as you will always end up in their red zone every set. They were doing it to us for 30miins of the first half. Luckily we ended up the fitter team.

On defense our line speed was terrible, we were in fact waiting for them which is why they were running 70-80m sets ending near our 30. That needs to change. We need the fitness SK got into the team so our defense is running at the offense and trapping them within 20-30m.

Edit: Sorry all. I should have linked my post together.:)

Ratuva has impressed me today. Giant strides since that trial in terms of his involvement and interactions with his fullback on kick returns. Agreed more time required though
Yep, agree he did some good things today. Lots to improve on too.

I know people will be calling for it but I’d be surprised if Brownie was seriously contemplating him as an option for Montoya when we have Berry and Vailea waiting in the wings (no pun intended).

Katoa playing in the middle was interesting. I thought he and Otukolo stood out and showed the most. PPR and Garret Smith tried hard but just don’t seem to have that leg speed or strength required to play first grade. I thought Adam Cook had a day to forget at halfback

The upgrade is Otukolo if and when he’s ready.

I saw he had 50 odd minutes today, maybe someone can let us know how he went?

We signed some hooker out of St Paul’s this year as well. Looks pretty silky from the highlights and not a typical short stocky dwarf. Jaydee Auloa is his name

Quality hookers are hard to come by and we aren’t getting an upgrade on Egan in the meantime.

Who is that?

Well we have Kodi, Im confident Otukolo can play 80m, hes hardly an enforcer forward hehe. Either way, if not, just play as we hve been Otukolo 60mins and Kodi 60mins. But I suspect it will be Egan 60mins Otukolo 20mins.

Too many teams this year afraid to play their superior RG players, its everywhere.

My impressions are that Otukolo hs the speed we desire from fast PTB in clearing the ruck either running or passing. ????
