NZWF Official thread for this rounds Warriors team list and team list discussion...

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and Jackson Ford are on track to return for the One New Zealand Warriors’ first game of the season at Mount Smart Stadium against Canterbury Bankstown on Sunday (4.00pm kick-off; game day sponsor: One New Zealand).

Fullback Nicoll-Klokstad and second rower Ford missed Saturday’s impressive 26-12 win over North Queensland after head knocks in the clash against the Sydney Roosters on March 11.

After outstanding displays in the season-opening win over Newcastle, Nicoll-Klokstad has come back into the fullback spot and Ford has been named to again partner fellow new signing Marata Niukore in the second row.
Nicoll-Klokstad’s return results in debutant Taine Tuaupiki moving to the extended bench while Ford replaces the injured Mitchell Barnett (neck).
Also missing this week is experienced hooker Wayde Egan (concussion), whose superb form has seen him score a try in each of the first three matches.

In his absence Freddy Lussick will make his first appearance of the season and the 23rd of his career. He played for the club’s New South Wales Cup side in its first two matches before filling the 18th man role in Townsville last Saturday.
After captain Tohu Harris Harris’ landmark 200th NRL appearance against the Cowboys another milestone will be achieved on Sunday when new signing Niukore plays his 100th first-grade match, the fourth for his hometown club after 96 outings for Parramatta.

The contest will also be notable for pitting two rookie head coaches against each other after being fellow assistant coaches with back-to-back premiers the Penrith Panthers.

In his first three matches as One New Zealand Warriors coach, Andrew Webster has guided the side to two wins and a loss to sit fourth on the ladder while his ex-colleague Cameron Ciraldo started his career with a loss to Manly Warringah before rebounding with wins over Melbourne and the Wests Tigers; the Bulldogs are lying eighth.

Sunday’s NRL encounter is the third leg of a triple header involving the Bulldogs, the two clubs first meeting in the SG Ball Cup (11.40am kick-off) and then in the New South Wales Cup (1.30pm).

Hmmm wondering where Curran sits right now - Sirro gets the nod as he can play hooker too, but once Barnett comes back you think he would fill Sirros spot, and with Jazz playing so well on the weekend and looking indispensable where does that leave Curran? I can't imagine he'd be happy as an 18th man.

Hopefully he works his arse off but again, really can't see where this leaves him

nervous but in a good way - this will be another test for the coaching, to see if the next guy up tactics clicks - best possible scenario for it though: returning class second rower for a proven beast, and a hooker of similar physicality who's been playing to the same game-plan in reserves

Should be a tight game. They have a pretty underwhelming bench, spine (bar Mahoney), a lack of grunt up front and some defensively fragile areas to target in their backline.

Barnett and Egan are massive outs, but Ford was very good in his first couple of games and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is always consistent.

I don't read too much into Curran's omission, we have a log jam at second row and lock. Someone half decent has to miss out, but I'm sure there will be opportunity for all of them during the season. Depth is a nice thing to have. Niukore, Harris and Ford pick themselves on what they have shown to date. Sironen has utility value, and we are seeing the benefit of having a lot of that in the team this year. It also allows Jazz to focus on his core role if Sironen spells Lussick, which is a relief.

It would a disappointing game to lose, and if we are playing finals this year then one of the ones we need to win. TAB has us marginally in front. If we can blow their forwards away, which is possible - they are not a big pack, then it could be a comfortable win. Dogs last win at Mt Smart was in 2011.

Barnett, Egan and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak all due back next week.

Actually pretty gutted Curren isn’t in there over Sironen. Sironen has played relatively well recently when given the chance but feel Curren adds more strike
I thought so too but my attitude changed towards Sironen in the last game. Just one game but I thought he was strong against the cowboys. Some players respond to some coaches and I haven’t thought Curran has had a good patch since Brown left. Whether it’s Sironen responding to Webster or it’s a contract year and he’s performing I’m not sure but I thought he deserves his spot this week.

I reckon Siro might be the 9 cover like last game.....lets Jazz and Walker stay focussed on running the ball hard.

I think they need to sort out the 18th (and possible 19th) man. With the new HIA rules teams are much more likely to use the player and therefore take careful consideration who fills that position. If reserve grade isn't played afterwards at the same venue then teams could potentially have the same player have no football for back to back weeks
