Jazz is looking a bit of a monster this year.

I've been very critical of him at times, would have been more than happy to see him leave the club

But he now looks to be a total key to our success, his combo with Walker on the field was just about unstoppable

Jazz doesn't need to be a ball player with Walker out there which makes him such a threat
I just meant the hair, or lake thereof.

I've always loved Jazz haha

He's shaved his head in support of his mate who's battling cancer, also donating a few 100 for each try, try assist, line break i believe and a few other things i forgot atm.
You may have already known that and were just commenting on his baldy, but thought I'd put that out there for anyone that wasn't aware.
Also noticed a few of the other players were also rocking baldies which I'm guessing is in support of his mate.

Sidenote he does look like a true mongrel in the baldy...

He’s playing great, long may it continue and he avoids injuries.
"Johnson's at his best with shape and players in motion around him, it’s not rocket science." Good to see this finally happening, lot more variety of lines and decoys being run this year too.

Takes big motors and extreme levels of fitness to pull off for 80 mins though, and you risk getting dominated up the middle by bigger less mobile packs if they win the possession stakes. But I love where it's heading so far, Penrith 2.0 hopefully.

Don't really have any stats to prove it but it really seems the 6 again error favours more mobile packs

Size does not seem to be as important

I think Shaun Johnson performs best in an unstructured, broken field situation. One where he's just playing what's in front of him, not focussing on set plays or game plans. Not saying he can't do those things, but for me Shaun Johnson always plays best when he's enjoying himself and he loves to carve people up.

I genuinely think he's enjoying himself this year which is showing through on the field.

I did not. Thanks for sharing. Only make me like Jazz more.

A lot was written about the Cowboys the last few years with Payten's high expectations.

His first year wasn't the best and there was a lot discussed around him benching Taumalolo and how he used him. He was often the grumpy guy and the press conference talking about standards and issues with attitude etc.

Last year they turned it around and there was a lot written on how fit they were, getting up early out of their comfort zone.

It will be good to review them this year to see if he maintains his high expectations and if the team still buy into them and turn things around.

They could have up-and-down seasons depending on how well they respond to him. A good test for him as a coach if he wants to be there long-term. Otherwise, he could be a coach who comes in for a short term and his methods burn everyone out.
Cows start to the season isn't too dissimilar to last year. Think we beat them early on before they got into a groove.

I think this game the were missing the combinations. Hiku Drinkwater out mean Shins Sami filled in played decent but also put Fledt in all sorts of areas defensively and then Drink waters kicking was missed and Chads Long kicking game isn't there.

They could be missing Gilbert too. He would often get the gears turning for them yard age wise.

I don't think they would have got us with them however we appeared to have more juice and running more as the game wore on. Tohu Harris kept Cotter, Taumalolo in check which cancelled their quick plays.

They looked a bit flat this time around I thought. Last years game was a bit of a roller coaster of a game, where apart from the start we were the better team throughout.

Drinkwater is obviously a big loss, but Payton strikes me as an intense man, not sure if that sort of coach is successful at the same club long term. Much like Daniel Anderson.

Well, if he is Daniel Anderson like this year they should be in the GF and next year in the top four too.

I get what you are saying.

I would be amazed if we can beat them twice.
