My brain still can't comprehend that that's Jazz

Jazz is looking a bit of a monster this year.

I've been very critical of him at times, would have been more than happy to see him leave the club

But he now looks to be a total key to our success, his combo with Walker on the field was just about unstoppable

Jazz doesn't need to be a ball player with Walker out there which makes him such a threat

First 5 minutes or so C. Rest of the game A

Glad those pissy posts about jet lag and it's too hot have been well and truly dealt with. They can go and join the refs are biased. Bullshit excuses and victim mentality that have no place with this club.

We have made some really good signings this year but none as good as Webster.

Impressed with all the players today. Complete team performance.

I'm off to bed and ream the missus like we just did to the cowboys. Her ball handling is much better though I must say.
Hopefully no risky offloads in the last minute or two...

I rate the Dogs a bigger challenge than the Cows....
I agree in that Drinkwater and Hiku were pretty big attacking outs for the Cows. Similar sides otherwise really... However, we should have the advantage versus the Doggies in playing at home (as compared with the FIFO assault on a "balmy" Townsville day).

We were missing Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad also.

I'm not sure the Doggies are all that much - they have some quality individual players but their rebuild still looks a bit behind ours - nearly gave it away to the Tigers up the middle late in the game.

It's no secret they are still looking for a halfback and have tried to move Flanagan on.

You could clearly see a game plan, especially with the kicking.... and you could clearly see that the cowboys had run out of ideas with about 15 to go.

Pompey and Kosi also learnt not to rush the person taking the bomb, mid game, which is a first.

But that Pompey offload and Vailea drop near the end tells us we are still capable of Warrior like errors at the wrong time.

You realize not all kicks are put up to be contested right? We're not talking about the last tackle kick when we're on attack in the opposition 20/30, (which i agree i'd like to see him take better options in the type of kick he uses)......we're talking about the 5th tackle kick after we've rucked it off our goal line and barely made halfway.....

In that instance your kicking for field position, and if u can get it coming down in the opposition 10, get a flat line defence up there, make them work it out deep off their line, your going to go someways to winning the territory battle.......this is the one he was getting stick for when in fact he was doing a good job getting us to the parts of the field we need to be in.

He had a great game on Saturday but, however as sometimes with S J he sometimes lets himself down by not backing it up,,,,,and that;ll be key......however id have to say the 3 games so far he's been by and large on point.....long may it continue.
We are talking about the same thing just have different views on his kicking. All the good kickers(Shaun Johnson before the archillies included) can put a lot more loft on even those rucking it out kicks, Shaun Johnson couldn't do it last year and he's yet to show it this year. Hell CHT was castrated on here last year because of the lack of height on his kicks that allowed the back three an easy catch, Shaun Johnson is kicking exactly the same. It's not about making everything a contest, but you want that extra bit of loft so your chasers can get down there and either one form a contest or two drill the attacker right when they catch it.

I'm not trying to bag Shaun Johnson, he was great on Saturday. But that is part of his game he really needs to be working on, as it is lacking and Te Maire Martin/Egan are both not noted kickers.

I think he's choosing not too, which was evident on the weekend and he's our only kicker, so gets a lot less time to actually kick the ball.

If he kicks like Saturday, for the rest of the year, we'll be in a good spot.

I counted 17 kicks he did and 12 of them the kick returner made less than 10metre which I would count as a success. There other 5 were when the kick returner made more than 10 metres but the majority of his kicks were good. I know it’s not contestable but still based on the game plan which was defending a lead did the job.

He’s playing great, long may it continue and he avoids injuries.

It's quite wild when the team are winning you tend to forget some of the depth this squad has at halves and FB.
Luke Metcalf is almost the forgotten man right now.

A lot was written about the Cowboys the last few years with Payten's high expectations.

His first year wasn't the best and there was a lot discussed around him benching Taumalolo and how he used him. He was often the grumpy guy and the press conference talking about standards and issues with attitude etc.

Last year they turned it around and there was a lot written on how fit they were, getting up early out of their comfort zone.

It will be good to review them this year to see if he maintains his high expectations and if the team still buy into them and turn things around.

They could have up-and-down seasons depending on how well they respond to him. A good test for him as a coach if he wants to be there long-term. Otherwise, he could be a coach who comes in for a short term and his methods burn everyone out.

Hmm. I think they have the individual cattle to beat us. Burton, Kikau and the Fox each can turn the game.

We we play like the team we have been, we can beat them sure.

I think we have the same view on his short contestable kicking game. Id like to see him ,more accurate and consistent in that aspect.

Clearly tho we differ on the long kicking game which i think has been for the most part on point. I counted at least 3 kicks he put up from around the halfway that came down inches from their goal line. That pretty pinpoint stuff and extremely hard to do.. Sure it may not have had the snow on it that you wouldve liked, but the end result was we were able to complete that zero tackle in the opposition 10......thats a great way to start a defensive set and build pressure.....and honestly we dont have the cattle or the strike to blow teams off the park so if we're going to win games itll be from building pressure and staying in the grind......u can see that's the plan Websters trying to employ.

Im not sure what much more you want in that instance tbh.

He didnt just stop Nanai, pretty sure he chopped Hess down a few times also. Pretty clear hes an important part of the new defensive structure, and his decision making is certainly making things easier on his outside men.

Im starting to buy into the rumours there were serious issues between him and Brown. Shaun Johnson looked frustrated with the gameplan often last year.

I also think the game plan is keep the ball in play, and keep the opposing forwards moving. It definitely worked in the cows. Their forwards were in front of the ptb for large sections of that game.
They spent 3-4 plays getting back onside, only to have to start tackling again.
