My favorite part was when flanno was giving the cowboys a massive wrap for their line speed then they went to the bird’s eye view and the entire cowboys line was 3 meters offside for the next 2 tackles, flanno went quite and they panned out again 🤣
Anyway…. Well outplayed- we need a couple of props and a fullback.
Next week will be a tough watch but might get another hearty performance for the last home game against the titans 🤷‍♂️
At MSS last week the Bulldogs were offside so often it wasn't funny, especially on their goal line,

IMO, a big part of our problem is we are far too passive on the paddock.
Sounds harsh but our captain's Melbourne Storm nickname was 'Zombie'. You know when you're talking about the 'undead' it's a whole other level of passivity.

Our last four coaches including Stacey, but with the exception of Payten are all passive people also.

Payten's getting players out of bed at 5:00 am to run up Castle Hill, I'm sure they thought he was a prick for doing it but the Cowboys are flying and fire up every time they take the field, our lot become a meek & mild squad of 'undead' whenever they're out beyond the euphoria of Mt Smart Stadium.

This has been a huge success for them and something we’re in desperate need of, mental coaching.
And this is where our squad has been let down by our coaching staff.

That Cowboys win last night should have demonstrated to everyone (if it wasnt already clear enough) the difference between a well coached, disciplined team drilled with clear and effective attacking and defensive structures, and one that hasnt been......(thanks Brownie....Stace n Morgan being assistants need to take their share of blame too)

Thing the Warriors should take from this is that last season the Cowboys were where we're at - worst defence in the comp, runners up for the wooden spoon......so in the space of an off season Payten was able to turn that around.

If anyone saw Matty John's Face to Face, Toddy explained in their review of the season watched every try they conceded, 60 % came from missed tackles or players not competing enough, .....hence the huge defensive output in the offseason, listening to their players apparently their wasnt a day over the off season they werent having to make full on tackles.
The other interesting insight i thought particulary relevant to the Warriors was they found their players we're good when the game was flowing or they had good rhythm, but the moment something happened to disrupt that rhythm (i.e missing tackles, turnovers, conceding penalties) they would fall apart or didnt have the mental strength to get back into the game (Warriors 2022 has been pretty much all about this - unable to defend their errors).

So their pre season wasnt so much built around sweat or grinding them into the dirt but upsetting their rhythm. Doing things they werent expecting to do, chucking a bit of chaos into their sessions and seeing how they handled it......which they got better at as the pre season went on..

One has to wonder with the way our team still plays like strangers exactly what the hell Brown had them doing over the off season.

Just for once instead of "hardest pre season ever" id love to hear "smartest pre season ever".

Now i dont know much about Webster, all i know is he was about 3rd or 4th choice from our "brains trust" in charge.....so im not holding my breath, im just hoping like hell he's capable and has this level of insight to his coaching......cause fuck its what this squad (which there's no reason cant at least be competitive) desperately need.

Bellamy has encouraged the nrl to reinstate a 2 ref policy. I’d be happy for that and the bunker only used in try scoring situations, as it was. Scrap players challenges.
There should be two refs. The control ref who stays at the ruck where you can see just about everything. He calls the tackles. The second ref just marks the 10 metre defence line. He is there as a back up if the main ref needs his help on something he missed.
The Bunker is a joke. They get more wrong than right and it’s blighted with one persons interpretation on any given day. They should only be allowed to review in real time

You take the word of "The Cheese" on nicknames on Matty Johns, going for effect btw, without listening to how he explained it, then extrapolate it into the 'undead' for the captain and the whole team. Is he the captain going forward, that will be up to Webster.

Johnson is trying hard but..
Walsh has effort too but..
Aitken has gone decently but is not a forward…

Maybe Shaun Johnson retires on a high at home after beating the Titans.
Te Maire Martin and Volkman halves for 2023.
Full back Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad or Metcalfe.
Centres Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad,Vailea, Berry, Montoya to choose from. Maybe Nuikore but he is a forward brute. Walker is injury back up. He is our 13 or 14.
Tom Ale a lock in for the 17. He is a sensation. Don’t be shy boys and girls. He is my new fave too.

It was Benji's show from memory, I can't dull my wits enough to sit through Matty Johns & friends buffoonery. Tohu Harris is our best player and the best player often ends up with the captaincy, he seemed to be the obvious choice to fill the void after Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

The club is truly weak in leadership though, from the top down. Tohu Harris looks like a reluctant captain imo.

Since Mannering it always has been, and he alone was not the leadership that we had under Cleary, and Campion.

Steve Price and Brent Tate didn't really cut the mustard because the troops weren't attuned to his style, nor he to theirs.

Harris is a fine person and player, just as SK was a fine person and player...something springs to mind,

do they have a Grand Final version? just asking like...but I am sure Mohawk fully understands. Strange fecker that he is he is not the deckhead Eric Watson is.

Reluctant coach, reluctant captain, reluctant players leaving to pursue their dreams, backs who tackle like reluctant zombies, forwards who are apparently nicknamed Zombie, no wonder fans are getting reluctant to watch them. I turned into a zombie watching that game, I was dead inside after the first three tries. Not that I trust a guy named The Cheese as a reliable source either, but he might have a point in this case.

Every bottom eight team is getting smashed by 40 or so points this week by top 8 teams plus Brisbane.
Warriors tick
Manly tick
Tigers tick
Bulldogs tick

Is there a case once Redcliffe is added plus the next expansion team say the Central coast bears to have a division one of nine teams and a division two of nine teams with a swap of bottom of division one and top of division two each year?

For dogs warriors tigers supporters it’s another crap weekend in a season of crap results.

I feel for the bird brothers at Silvertails too, hard not to when we're Silvertails twice a year, their team's really let them down this year after they showed a lot of promise. Actually it might all end in tears for the Broncos yet if Canberra take their finals spot. What a bunch of losers, but the cowboys have shown us all there is hope, I just hope Webby is the right coach to wake up these zombies and teach them how to die for Penrose after the great Reset, he'll need to be Q to pull that off.

I was going to write a long response but will go for brevity unless anyone asks any questions,

Smart Coaches go for a point of difference between their team and the next rather than being good at EVERYTHING. As the latter is a fools errand that lacks focus.
When Payten took over the Warriors our line speed improved over night and we started to win under him.
At one point I could tell who would win a game 10 minutes into it from comparative line speeds.
The top teams all cheat on line speed and lead the league in line speed. To the extent they aim to give away a penalty or two in the first half so they can test where the ref is calling it that game.

If we ever want to improve then we too will have to push the envelope with line speed. We do push the envelope. With another factor. Holding down in the tackle. we aim to hold down as long as possible to the extent we give away a penalty or two each game to find out where the threshold is. Some how us holding down doesn't result in a fast Warriors line speed though.

Yeah it happens to us week in week out. We're told to get back beyond the 10 meters constantly, yet opposition teams can be in our line before Egan picks up the ball. Kudos to Curran for calling the shit out on the field. Not even upset that he gave away a penatly.
That’s where Tohu Harris should have a quiet word in the refs ear, even if it has to be several times a game, not winging about it, just pointing it out. Make them aware, not just let it happen. Do it even if there is a penalty for us just to point it out.

Stacey said that the boys weren’t playing for the jersey - will he make changes then or try and motivate them to play better?
