Him not really successful in the role might see Asi re signed if he can deliver defensively as well as on attack.

Asi and deliver defensively is not something I see coming to fruition.

OK this is a forum game called last man standing.

I think Mustard is good enough. Hes not the defensive nous of Chanel, but he aint afraid of tackling.

Still puzzling decisions though. Both Pompey and Berry had blinders last week and out of the blue Vailea is back.

Dont care who plays at this stage I just want some wins on the board. Im hoping Murchie starts and Shaun Johnson puts him into a few holes hes thw kind of guy Shaun Johnson needs.

When nothing is on he hands off to murchie. Not thought required. Until something different presents itself and he ices thw opportunity.

I am quoting the wrong post but Asi will not be resigned as we have 4 halves next year already and two spots left (i think) and the 30th spot we will hold for a lodge like mid season deal.

The Aitken to centres crowd is very quite.

Bit late now but if he started the season there we would’ve won a couple of those games we lost in the first month or so due to our inexperienced outside backs getting exposed which would’ve generated more confidence in the squad which sets us up for a big win over the 12 (11) man sharks, lodge stays on, we ride that momentum in to our home games forcing our way into the top 4 and home semi infront of a full house before eventually taking out our maiden premiership.
That’s right- playing rookie centers cost us the premiership.
Change my mind….

Pompey has had good games and poor games. But inconsistentcy has been his down fall.

Pompey has good and bad games and he does try..
Mind you is it me, but he looks awkward like hes leaning backwards when he runs with the ball. Definitely easy to tackle makes his centre of gravity too high..

I think we can all agree Vailea was just starting to show some of his qualities in first grade before the injury. Happy to see him picked ahead of Berry, who while having his best game in Cup after a lean patch to me still lacks the physicality required at NRL level at this stage.

There's a bit of 'Bambi on rollerskates' about him, his light frame has let him down at times this season lowering his confidence levels and showing up in misreads on defence, and a few cock-ups with his handling and around the fundamentals of the game.

I've no doubt when he catches Vailea in his physical development he'll be a handful with his skillset, he has a natural ability to feed players around him, when he has the strength to do that in contact he'll be a threat for us. Ideally, I'd like to see him play out the year in State Cup and continue to build his confidence with the Dolphins surely finals bound this season.

With any luck, he'll add some size over the preseason and challenge for a spot again in 2023.

Attacking wise Vailea showed good signs with the ball in the 2 games prior to his injury with back to back 101m games & a combined 3 tries. Defensively though he missed 7 of his 15 tackle attempts against the Dragons then followed that up with some poor reads against the Knights which contributed to 2 tries conceded on his edge when he was on the field. Fingers crossed he puts in a solid shift on both sides of the ball come Friday
