Barrett's Press Conference was just a spoken version of what we get in this forum week on week

The Refs are against us, well every Club' fans say that. What we have is a consistency, not conspiracy issue. We did win the penalty count 9-2.

I think the team is improving, a lot of that is having a more settled lineup, the scattered selection is not a blame, it is circumstances.

Most of the handling errors come down to trying too hard (SO'S), that is something a video review will address. Also Kosi has come in for criticism for not taking that scoring pass. Yes, he should have caught it, but it is more difficult than it looks those close passes with arms, legs and bodies along with a minimal view of the pass.

The Bulldogs tend to lose games by 17 based on their points differential. We beat them by 14. Meh
Ryan James alone is worth the three points I recon, he lead their charge out there, they had way more punch through the middle with the two RaiderDogs, although our B side boys played really well too.

I think the refs job is to keep the result close while allowing the better team to win.

That’s why whenever a team gets a lead the refs call 50/50 decision against them. It’s why when we got 2 tries up, the Bulldogs got all the last first half calls to keep them competitive. It was a game of 2 halves with the Warriors getting all the calls second half to allow the better team to win.

It’s a flawed strategy that just gets fans annoyed. They should just call it like it is without any agenda. It’s manipulating the results.

It is good to have a win, even better to have 3 wins in a row. However, even against the worst team in the competition by a landslide we looked a bit wobbly at times - thank god the late try by the bulldogs was disallowed! We need both of our big men in Addin and Lodge to be on the field to be dominant. I am really impressed with Montoya, I think our best money buy of the season and Sean O'Sullivan has looked better setting up the first 3 tries, although one of them was for the Dogs. At least he is setting up tries now, just needs to eliminate setting up the oppositions tries.

Katoa should have been sent off for the shot in Kosi. It was a late, high reckless shoulder charge on a guy without the ball. It was at least as bad as CHM did for Canberra, worse than what Mad Jack was sent off for earlier in the year. What more do you need. His second high shot was a sin bin.

Also, I’m not so sure that we got the rub of the green in the 2nd half. Yes we won the penalty count but the Dogs were terrible, with the ref having no option but to penalise them with their head highs and blatant 3 on 1 strips. I can’t remember many subjective or 50/50s going our way that 2nd half. I know we got a few but so did they, felt it was quite even except for those dumb plays by the doggies

I thought some were tough on our guys-this is from the Kennel Forum

I have come to the conclusion that the 2021 Bulldogs are a team of utter, remedial, and retarded window lickers whose collected IQs are less than flaking led paint on a special school's lavatory!
A senile goldfish is more intelligent than the 2021 Bulldogs!
The contents of a starving Ethiopians bowel movement is more intelligent than the 2021 Bulldogs!!
A bowl of fungal toenail clippings is more intelligent than the 2021 Bulldogs!
Wet sawdust on a kindergarten floor is more intelligent than the 2021 Bulldogs! !
You know that guy that shouts at pigeons and has arguments with his shadow on the street corner, yup he's more intelligent than the 2021 Bulldogs!
A dingleberry hanging on Donald Trump's fat spotty backside is more intelligent than the 2021 Bulldogs!
To be blunt, if they were in a Special Olympics, they would be beaten by the most special team there as well!
Stop beating around the bush
Tell us how you really feel :tearsofjoy:

I’m not sure what game you were watching but it can’t have been the one being discussed in this thread.

Re knock on - even the commentators thought it was a knock on.

Walsh offside - checked by bunker and confirmed onside.

Getting 50/50s - spare me. Was the Montoya obstruction call even close to being a penalty? Should Katoa only have been penalised and not received harsher punishmen?

PTB speed - have a look at the stats. Our PTB speed was on average close to 1/2 sec slower than the Dogs over the game and as we had circa 180 PTBs that equates to over 1.5 minutes where we were slowed down. No matter the ref gave them 5 6ags for ruck infringements and us only 2 - go figure!

On a serious note. I find on this forum we always accuse the ref of bias or being consistently unjust to throughout the match after nearly every game.
Bit over it and I think we should move on from that line. It happens to plenty of other teams not just us is my point. On the dogs forum they think they were hard done by in the last match, and those fans know just as much about league as you blokes.

Maybe my synopsis that Dixpat responded to was over exaggerated, but the essence was correct. We got plenty of calls in our favour in the Dogs match. We also to everyone's else's points got plenty against us too. I am not the only one in this thread who posted that Walsh was off side on the try btw.

But that's the thing Wrighty - Walsh wasn't offside. The bunker cleared it and I freeze framed it and it was better than 50/50 in which case it will always favour the attacking team. Montoyas escort penalty was a farce which ever side of the fence you sit on. Every single person including commentators and media think Kaotoas tackle was a send off or at the very least a sin bin. We shouldn't be made to feel guilty about a favourable penalty count - every single one of their second half penalties was just dumb play and nothing to do with a square up - clear strips of the ball with multiple defenders, head high shots etc.

I agree in some aspect of what your saying. We can be at the best of times a little zealist against the refs but unfortunate reality is that we don't get many favorable or 50/50 calls and a lot of the time we just get plain dudded.

The Bulldogs supporters epitomise everything the club us right now. Right from the top - Barret has blamed the refs, the new rules, lack of talent but fails to hold himself and his players accountable. You can see this mentality infest their fan base. On the other hand Browny has handled himself with much respect and mana - regardless of what we say - because we don't really matter in the grand scheme. Our team is better of for it and so is the club because accountability starts with them and the not the refs. However I will still have a good winge because my team is finally playing well but I won't suddenly go blind - one eye at least ;)

I’ll bite 😂
Chanel Harris-Tavita was poor. His kicks particularly in the 2nd half were short in the air and along the ground, not giving his chasers a chance. I counted 4 times. Thought he took some poor options too.

I had a giggle at his try assist with that kick for Walsh. Imo, story of his life - good idea, but poor execution. He kicked it waaaay to infield and had it bounced in a normal straight trajectory, Meany would have had it covered. But it took a big off-break towards where Walsh gobbled it up.
Um.... it bounced up in to Walsh's hands and he scored. What could have the kick done better?

Ok so we beat the bottom team by 24-10 when most other teams are beating them by 40-60 points. It was a win but not a great performance. Shows we are not much better then the bottom side. But it's still a win so I am happy enough
One of their tries was against the run of play off of our error, and the other was after 3000 set restarts on our line. So I think we defended really well. We had a try disallowed and one bombed and the teams that you mention who clock up 60 points, don't have their starting wingers, props, centres and lock all out at the same time and play with the captain they have had all year. I reckon we are much better than a lot of sides, considering.
