To be fair to Stace, he was a small guy who got targetted in the line. His line d was pretty ordinary.

But, his cover defence was great. I lost count of the number of times he was the guy chasing back in cover.

Egan at 6 is just stupid. He is finally looking good at hooker and we move him to 6 while Asi and Volkman wait for experience? Seems like a different experiment every week and it is getting old fast

Asi should be looking as there's no room for him here in 2023. Volkman is a solid prospect hence why we fought off other clubs to get him & he's contracted for another 3 seasons. Asi on the other hand gives off Carlos Tuimavave vibes & may find himself having a decent career in Super League

Yeah I mean Shaun Johnson wants to be home with his Family grant him his wish, and roll with players desperate prove their worth. Its in Asi best interest to play well. Volkman might as cut his teeth with little to no pressure applied.

And give Berry and Vailea their boarding passes to gain valuable grade experience. Berry for mine has been full of effort. Just doesnt have Defenisve plan to adhere too or at least an effective one. But every game first grade level speed would be helpful

Think it's more giving us some more impact off the bench. Pene looked decent the last time he played a really high impact starting role then came off.

Plus it keeps Josh fresh and he can go like a bat out of hell for the remaining 60 or what have you.

Yeah I have had big wraps on that guy since he signed. He had a rachet run of injuries.

But he brings somwthing different to the team. Foot speed for a big guy.

clear to me now that this line up really is about testing one or two squad members. Probably the most defensively minded back line of the whole season, which sets it up nicely for Kosi to get another go to run something in having not being exhausted with defensive reads (that's the theory anyway) - others being tested are Lussick and Otokolo obviously, but also Pene at lock (similar in relation to the pack as Kosi is to the backs) which opens the question over where is Katoa going to be used?

Egan at 6 also simplifies things for Shaun Johnson, so I can get behind that.

Was there anything official about Volkman been injured this week? The guy named at #7 for Redcliffe in Q Cup tomorrow is also listed to start for their U21's which is a bit curious
